Arctic sea ice has reached the largest December extent in a decade. Government experts will of course not acknowledge this, because their funding and reputations depend on a misinformed public and Congress.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

That’s because all of their arguments for AGW aren’t based on climate at all but merely the current weather.
Global warming is (was) the fad of the day and nature is just doing it’s cyclical thing and making laughing stocks of them all.
The arguments of some are actually based on expediency to save their bacon, er, funding and some are based on the need for priests of a new religion to try to save THEIR bacon. The rest are by people who have a political ax to grind and know full well they are being lied to by so-called scientists and are quite glad to spread those same lies to further their interests. All of them are killing real science in the United States and Europe.
No sane American believes any of the crap these people are putting out as polls readily show. Currently, interest in climatology is practically off the chart.
Off the bottom of the chart that is.
Now if we can just sink it and the people pushing it in the deepest part of the Pacific trench.

As is their credibility. It is a shame that the failures of some to do good science will smear the real truth seekers in so many other fields. But that is exactly what is happening. Skepticism is generally a good thing but not when it becomes an unreasoned status-quo as a result of scientists in general having the reputation of a used car salesman or politician due to the actions of the disreputable. And that is where we’re heading I’m afraid.
rah,
Given the Wall Street Journal article: The Corruption of Peer Review Is Harming Scientific Credibility and many others, Science is getting a black eye. (I have a long list)
Given the Royal Society, The American Chemical Society, The American Geophysical Union and many many other came out with ‘official pro-CAGW statements’ they richly deserve that black eye especially if they do not do a climb down ASAP. The American Physical Society realized the problem when they got hit over the head by a Nobel Laureate quiting loudly and publicly because he disagreed with the political statement. So they appointed a committee including 1/2 skeptics to draft a new statement.
American Physical Society Sees The Light: Will It Be The First Major Scientific Institution To Reject The Global Warming ‘Consensus’?
When you have a well known school like the University of Indiana come out with tripe like their latest: Look out, a soil model says more plants means massive carbon stores might be freed (Jo Nova) They dam.. well do deserve the black eye.
I maybe a chemist and a live long lover of science but my hands will certainly be on the pedestal Pseudo-science now sits on giving it a mighty shove.

I remember Lewis resigning from the American Physical Society. It was a courageous principled act. Unfortunately the very same thing that Lewis protested against with his resignation pervades so many once respected organizations. The heads in the administration often do not act to reflect the judgments or opinions of a large portion or sometimes even the majority of their membership and yet present themselves as doing so.
What those “leaders” have done is willfully abused the prestige of the giants Lewis referred to. Those leaders forget that without the prestige the giants earned by their accomplishments was passed on to the various organizations prominent in their fields by their membership or even by being a founder. In short without the giants the organizations they head would not have any prestige at all and thus would be replaced eventually.
So the hard earned prestige is a thing that must be jealously guarded if the organization is to remain a prominent leader in it’s field to which membership is a great honor and thus the giants want to belong. To willfully use that prestige to promote any claim not substantiated by the highest order of research and scientific practice is to chip away the the very foundation of the organization because the fact is that the real giants don’t need the organizations but the organizations have to attract the giants and their prestige.
rah,
I was a member of The American Chemical Society, my husband a member of The American Physical Society. We both quit in protest. Go to WUWT during the time these societies made their proclamations and you will see a lot of others quit too. People have also dropped subscriptions to American Scientific, National Geographic and New Scientist. (Nigel Calder was a founding writer then the head of New Scientist at one time.)
When you think about it the corruption of so many scientific institutions and universities is truly frightening.
Thank goodness for the blog-o-sphere where many of us now go for our information.
I do not think the situation can be corrected until Science gets the black eye and government funding is removed. Especially funding to radical groups like the WWF.
Profile: The U.S. WWF is a superpower in the international non-profit arena, with 20% of its revenue from government tax money, 10% from industry, and half from prescriptive foundations
WWF also get money from oil companies. Shell Oil being one of the first donors. (Not that that surprises me.)

Looks like it was much higher in 2003-2004. Over 11.
Whereas now it’s under 10.
It seems that cool summers more than cold winters account for increases in old ice and thus cumulative ice increase over time.
I remember reading a long time ago (GEO 101?) that accumulation of ice in ice ages is not because of very cold winters but because the summers were too cool to melt all the snow. Also snow accumulation is not during very cold winter which tend to be too dry. You need to evaporate the water before you can deposit it as snow.
So you need moderate winters with heavy snow accumulation plus mild summers too cool to melt all the snow. What we have been seeing these last few winters is the weather patterns needed to build glaciers. A meridional pattern jet stream will give you the moisture laden tropical air clashing with a ‘polar vortex’ and dumping several feet of snow.
For example:
11/21/2014 – Buffalo NY “…the historic storm that dumped more than 7 feet (2.13 m) of snow on the area in only three days. Buffalo normally gets around 8 feet of snow during an entire winter season….”
12/19/2014 – Japan “…Japan’s NHK news network reported that, as of the 18th, Niigata Prefecture Tsunan had snow height of 207 cm (6 ft – 8 inches), Nagano Nozawaonsen had 183 cm (6 ft) of snow, Gunma Minakami had 171 cm (5?-7?) of snow, etc…. These snowfall levels are far greater than in previous years….”
Remember, we are just barely into winter so If you get a series of storms dumping 3 to 6 feet of snow each time and little melt in between, it doesn’t take much to build up a major accumulation of snow.
Then you have snow remaining in the summer:
8/6/2012 Endless Winter for Alaska’s Mountains This Year
And the formation of the first stages in glaciation:
Glacier like hazards Found on Ben Nevis
“…Due to the unprecedented quantity of snow that fell between December of last year and March of this year, almost 300 “snow patches” remain in Highland mountains despite the warm weather the region has enjoyed this summer….”
You can then add in the sea ice growth in the Antarctic increasing the albedo and a sun that is in slumber mode causing changes in the amount of energy in the EUV/UV/Visible wave lengths that penetrate and warm the oceans.

Finally as Steve Goddard noted earlier this year the shape of the ‘Polar Vortex’ in North America is the same shape as the Laurentide Ice Sheet
Shocking Polar Vortex From 20,000 Years Ago
NOTE: The articles and quotations were gleaned from Ice Age Now.
Correct. And note that during the last glaciation, the proxies indicate that Alaska was actually relatively warm. Much like this season with the warm northern Pacific. It is that moisture that fed the NA glaciation.
From the same website:
“Since the 1970s the extent of sea ice has been measured from satellites. From these measurements we know that the sea ice extent today is significantly smaller than 30 years ago. During the past 10 years the melting of sea ice has accelerated, and especially during the ice extent minimum in September large changes are observed. The sea ice in the northern hemisphere have never been thinner and more vulnerable.”

I appreciate the blow up graph. And my cataracts do as well. 😉
+100
Thank goodness for zoom (+200%) or more on opera.
I will have to start using Opera more (I have it downloaded, but it is my 5th browser of choice).
CT should acknowledge their errors and get rid of “Tale of the tape”and 2007 melting “story”or they will look very stupid (University of Illinois ice page) cryosphere today ect…

As the Cooling evidence mounts, there will come a point in time whereby ; the Warmist’s will either hide from any exposure or become born again sceptics,,, but the World should not let this pass so easily… I for one, will keep the spotlight on these fraudsters ; their AGW Crime has become worse than Watergate and at least deserves a similar outcome !
Thats what SG does LOL
Yes the skeptics (Tony being one of the leaders) have been shining a glaring light on these fraudsters. Without this light they could easily slink away without any retribution. Now thanks to the tremendous amount of digging done by skeptics it is clear the Clim-Astrologists were not ‘mistaken’ but knowingly and REPEATEDLY committing fraud.
If you recall, during the time when the Climategate e-mails first came to light, Phil Jones was shaking in his boots and even contemplating suicide. This is not the response of an innocent scientist but the response of a white collar worker coming face to face with the evidence of his fraud.
Reblogged this on Climatism.
