A sane person would think :
- Fossil fuels allow me to keep warm and comfortable
- Fossil fuels allow me to travel to work and to shopping
- Fossil fuels allow me to go from one end of the country to the other in five hours
- Fossil fuels bring food to my table
- Fossil fuels allow me to instantly communicate with people all over the world
- Fossil fuels keep me employed
- Fossil fuels keep me out of the squalor which humans suffered through for most of their existence
A progressive would think :
- CO2 is a greenhouse gas. We have to stop using fossil fuels, or some really bad things are going to happen. 97% of scientists agree with me.
It takes a lifetime of brainwashing to create humans that stupid and messed up.
Merry Christmas, Steven, and thank you for your efforts to confront the government propaganda machine with factual information.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Omanuel. You add to the light. I enjoy reading your comments.
I must disagree with you Steven. To get that messed up only takes many impressionable young people about 15 minutes in Poly Si 101.
Actually it starts at a few months old in ‘progressive’ government daycares.
The newest idiocy is the ‘ruling ‘ that shouting at a child is ‘abuse’ (Eye roll)
This means you can not touch the child or yell at the child as he approaches danger. We found out about the new ruling because about a month ago a child was in a dangerous situation, put there by the ignorant parents no less. Hubby, who had his hands full with another child, tried to warn the child and parents. When he finally had to yell to get a reaction the parents then lectured him. The child meanwhile remained in the dangerous situation.
If you can not spank, grab, push, pull, restrain or yell at a young child what in the world is left as discipline?
If you see a two year old running from his parents, is it now the acceptable thing to allow him to get hit by the car because you can no longer ” grab, push, pull, restrain or yell” at the child?
Well that seems to be the Progressives recommendation… Note the situation that child was in who my Hubby yelled at could have been as fatal as playing in the street. The parents were just too ignorant to realize it.
This is the recommendation:
As an illustration of the results of different types of childhood training. (The religious right is now accused of ‘abuse’ for spanking. link ) I was going to link to “Tea Party vs Occupy Wall Street in pictures” a photo essay by Todd Kinsey Unfortunately “Tea Party vs Occupy Wall Street in pictures” has been removed from the net.
But we do still have this: Unfortunately all-too-real photos: #OWS protesters defecate on, stomp on American flag [Updated] (The complaint by the Left is that the pictures are of leftists before OWS. LOL)
We also have young men who see no reason to obey the commands of law enforcement and end up dead as a result.
The United States Should Ban Spanking
http://www.commondreams.org/views/2014/09/24/united-states-should-ban-spanking
Spare the rod and spoil society.
My parents spanked, and my grandmother used to make me pick my own switch from the tree (anticipation!). As a result, my brother and I learned to become useful contributing members of society who abhor senseless violence.
I read a study a number of years ago which concluded that corporal punishment at an early age protects children from danger. It goes back to our reptile brain, and its interpretation of pain as it relates to our actions. We learn not to touch hot things because they burn, and burning may result in death. Our reptile brain is all about self preservation, and pain is an indicator of actions that may lead to its extinction. I learned at an early age that ant-social behavior, and failure to recognize authority are possibly fatal.
BINGO!
My parents NEVER EVER ‘child proofed’ the home. Instead we were taught the word NO! at a very young age (with a palm on the butt.) If we wanted to look at an antique vase or whatever we pointed to it and Mom would sit us in her lap and let us look at and handle the object and tell us about it. In this way we learned respect for not only our parents but respect and care for our environment and our past.
I do not think my parent actually used physical punishment after the age of about three or four. Mom was very inventive however. Don’t take out the garbage when told? When you come home from the movie with your friends you find under the bed covers all the garbage you didn’t take out plus contributions from the neighbors… That one still sticks in my mind and my brother was the one on the receiving end.
“My parents NEVER EVER ‘child proofed’ the home. Instead we were taught the word NO! at a very young age (with a palm on the butt.)”
When I hear the left call republicans the party of “No”, I laugh (and sigh), because I am reminded that some party must act as the adult in this playground we call democracy.
Just another brick in the wall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YR5ApYxkU-U

I ran across this comparison between the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street.
Let’s compare: TP for Tea Party, OWS for Occupy Wall Street
Can’t we bundle them all up including their politician supporters and ship them to North Korea, their desired goal?
Merry Christmas!
In most of the world, fossil fuels are the result of vast, shallow inland seas during a time of global warmth, high CO2, and immense biologic productivity, both marine and terrestrial, during the Mesozoic Era.
You don’t have to believe in “God” to acknowledge our immense great fortune to be so geologically blessed.
To deny this obvious bounty and fear its recycling as CO2 and H2O, however, one has to presume that mere humans have vast powers over Earth systems that dwarf humans in both spatial and temporal dimensions.
Silly humans. We are as inconsequential as fireflies are to daylight
Yup. From another geologist called Jimmy.
Thank you got your insight, geologyjim. Mankind is indeed geologically blessed, but also cursed with an arrogant blindness to our total dependence on “Fate” or “God.”
Joseph Stalin used that human weakness to trick a group of geophysicists into believing they could “save the world” from nuclear annihilation by:
_ 1. Forming the United Nations on 24 Oct 1945, and
_ 2. Hiding the energy that destroyed Hiroshima on 6 Aug 1945!
The geophysicists had no comprehension of the force of nuclear energy in creating, destroying and sustaining the illusion of solid atoms, lives and worlds.
But a year earlier, in 1944, Nobel Laureate Max Planck had described the Force that holds together the whirling electrons in each atom together to create the illusion of solid matter:
“There is no matter as such! All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a FORCE which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together …”
“We must assume behind this force the existence of a CONSCIOUS and INTELLIGENT MIND. This Mind is the matrix of all matter.”
http://www.greggbraden.com/resources
These words by Max Planck illustrate how science, religion and spirituality operated before 1945 as separate paths to the basic truths that underlie all constitutional governments and respect for the basic right of humans to self-governance.
Invisible force fields from the Sun’s powerful pulsar core hold subatomic particles of each atom together in the solar system today [See: “Solar energy,” Advances in Astronomy (submitted 1 Sept 2014)]: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10640850/Solar_Energy.pdf
Restoration of Max Planck’s respect for religion, science and spirituality is the key to restoration of sanity in today’s troubled society and an end to the global climate debate.
To the Two Geologist Jims,
How anyone could think puny mankind (especially the 3-4% contribution of a minor gas) can trump God/Nature is mind boggling.
I have been in a cave during an earthquake and watched limestone bedding planes move in relation to each other – Awesome and very frightening.
I like that analogy. I think I will steal it, with your permission.
Or it takes a wad of money from governments.
Cherry mixmas Tony…. burp
“Fossil fuels save lives, and CO2 is essential to all life.”
Merry Christmas, gator.
Merry Christmas Lou! Peace on Earth, or at least in your neighborhood.
Two choices for mankind. Use harnessed energy or use slavery.
The Progressives have elected slavery. They just do not bother to tell their useless idiots that.
As a friend said it was James Watt inventor of a useful steam engine who freed the serfs/slaves/poverty stricken it was not Lincoln. (His teacher was NOT happy with the answer.)
Only the insanity of the left would consider pushing for the rights of children, while enslaving their parents, sensible.
I’m elated to be considered an idiot by “97%” of the progressives that I live around. It keeps them, and me, on our toes. Merry Christmas, sir. Lord bless you and yours.
If your local Progressive thinks you’re an idiot, try talking to them, and in particular ask them where they get their information from. New York Times? MSNBC? Salon.com? Mother Jones? Point out that those are definitely NOT the most truthful of sources when it comes to science. And let them know that you’ve looked at the data and the science and come to a different conclusion than theirs.
My suspicion is that most ordinary people have NOT looked at the science but instead have been duped into thinking that “acting on climate change” will save the polar bears, stop the seas from rising, etc. Once they realize on their own that they’ve been duped, they will come around. You can help by planting a seed of doubt in their mind.
Merry Christmas Steven, keep up the good work!
Merry Christmas Tony and to all the fact seekers on this site.
Progressives hate capitalism, private property rights and free enterprise, as well as the notion that people (other than themselves) can succeed on their own. We thought communism was dead after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Instead it is very much alive and well right here in the good, old USA. “Climate Change” is nothing more than a thinly vailed “end of the world” scare tactic, designed to dupe the sheeple into believing they are selfish, unless they give up whatever little wealth and freedom they still have left.
Let’s look on the bright side. At least progressives (?) had the good sense to enact the Montreal Protocol, which inadvertently dealt with the real cause of global warming: ozone depletion from CFCs. Now that that’s been taken care of, we can go on enjoying all those good benefits of fossil fuels with a clear conscience. Gaudeamus igitur!*
*(Let us therefore rejoice!)
(And added very nicely to Dupont’s bottom line.)
You are on the right track. Ozone is a much more important gas than CO2 when it comes to changes in the climate.
BTW what is all the HCl, H2F, SO2 from Bárdarbunga – The Elevator to Hell doing beside giving us some real acid rain.
Your link says ” Major effusive, basaltic volcanoes deplete ozone, warming Earth” and that is a good description of Bárdarbunga.
Actually we have an interesting experiment in Earth’s natural laboratory developing:
1. The Warmist thesis is rising CO2 ====> warmer temperatures. The last 18 years of no change/cooling disproves that thesis.
2. The Ozone Depletion Theory follows the recent temperature curve according to the website. If Bárdarbunga keeps dumping HCl, H2F, SO2 into the atmosphere then this theory predicts resumption of warming.
3. Dr David Evans’ notch-delay theory predicts cooling within a year or two.
Jo Nova says
As the Chinese say: “May you live in interesting times”
Merry Christmas and may the world bask in peace and prosperity for all.
Of interest on the CFCs subject:
False! It takes NOT thinking to be that stupid, and there are a lot of them around.
Progressivism is a mental disorder, not unlike anorexia. It’s a self destructive obsession. I think also that they actively reject the obvious logical answer to many questions, (ostensibly to avoid preference) but I think actually, to render rational judgement void, so as to allow chaos and subjective selection in all decisions. (I want what I want when I want it). Rational judgement creates situations where your former positions obligate you to forgo what you now want.
“The Underground History of American Education” by John Taylor Gatto. That text will tell you what you need to know about why americans can’t think well any longer.
It’s easier to read and understand than “The Deliberate Dumbing down of America” although the two texts do compliment each other in understanding what has been going on for well over a century.
$75.00 for a used paperback!?! – GULP! I think I will get it via the library.
I understand that a 2015 edition is in the works:

This will resonate with you, I think:

Can’t realy blame the citizens they have been told this for close to two generations now. The ones I talk to can’t believe that the government would lie to them for they have also been brainwashed into believing that business (capitalism) are evil and can not be trusted. Only a powerful federal government can look out for them!
Reducing US power generation CO2 output by 30% will result in about 3% less global CO2. It’s not about fossil fuels, it is and has been all about coal. And many of the alternative non-fossil fuels also produce CO2.

Too simple for words but Progressives really don’t get it. A Progressive reading this post would not understand it was in reference to them. Really!
