They Are All Grubers Now

Democratic congressman Elijah Cummings tore into MIT professor and Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber on Tuesday for his remarks on American voters and the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

The ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee made GOP chairman Darrell Issa’s opening statement sound tame by comparison.

“As far as I can tell, we are here today to beat up on Jonathan Gruber for stupid — I mean absolutely stupid — comments he made over the last few years,” he began, staring angrily at the hapless professor.

In other words, they are skapegoating Gruber for what all the Democrats did.

While appearing on Sunday’s edition of ABC’s “This Week,” Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., admitted Democrats in the Senate knew Obama lied when he said Americans could keep their insurance

“So were you misled?” Raddatz asked in a follow-up.

“No,” Gillibrand said. “We all knew.”

Yes, they are all Grubers now, including the UN, the UN’s IPCC, the Nobel Prize Committees, both political parties here and elsewhere, the National Academies of Science worldwide, and formerly prestigious science journals like, Nature, PNAS, PRS, Science, etc.

All Grubers now, trying to save themselves by blaming Jonathan Gruber for telling the truth.

    • Gruber is being criticized for telling the TRUTH….

The Progressives are spinning again, throwing Gruber under the bus for letting us all in on their lies… pretending like this whole thing wasn’t a SCAM ..

  3. bleakhouses says:

Gruberg commuted two crimes the least of which was to empower the offending legislation; the greater of which was to expose the true nature of the men/women behind the curtain. Now rather then ask us to pay no attention to that man behind the curtain they are going to publicly excoriate the messenger. What a farce.

Nothing like an admission that all the Demi-Rats were in on it when ‘it’ is a much hated piece of legislation and the hate extends across political lines.

From EBONY: Is Obamacare Hurting African Americans?

[OPINION] Conservative writer Chelsi P. Henry says that ACA is putting some of the nation’s poorest people in a difficult position

Last week, Wal-Mart, the country’s largest private employer of Blacks, announced it will be cutting health insurance for about 30,000 part-time employees and increasing premiums for other employees. In Arkansas, Blue Cross Blue Shield will be dropping about 4,000 Medicare customers due to “government regulations.”

This is the exact opposite of what the Affordable Care Act (ACA) promised.

Blacks are 55 percent more likely to be without health insurance than Whites. The ACA was sold as the solution to our crippling healthcare system. The ACA was supposed to give more Americans access to affordable, quality health insurance, and reduce the growing healthcare spending in the U.S….

Last November, Bowie State University, one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities in America, announced they were cancelling a school-wide health care plan for students. Their reason—the ACA. In order to comply with the ACA’s regulations, the price per student each semester would jump from $50 to $900. You read right. And, that would mean $1800 per student each year. Where is the support President Obama and the White House promised HBCUs?…

Now a comment from the far left:

Obamacare is Doomed by Its Internal Logic
A Black Agenda Radio commentary by executive editor Glen Ford

“Private insurers make money by betting against the health interests of their customers.”

Obamacare is unraveling, not because the administration is particularly incompetent or unlucky, and certainly not as a result of the Republicans’ unrelenting hostility to the Obama health insurance plan. Indeed, ever since the bill’s passage in early 2010, the GOP’s holy war against Obamacare has served to solidify reflexive Democratic support for what has always been a Republican-inspired bill.

The truth is, the Affordable Health Care Act is coming undone because of its own, tortured internal logic. At root, it is a fraud on the public:

This is an interesting bit on who Glen Ford is. http://www.democracynow.org/2012/9/7/effective_evil_or_progressives_best_hope

    • Isn’t race like gender self-determined in the leftist world? For instance if I wanted to apply for a minority reserved professorship at Harvard I could recall my grandmother’s old Indian oyster stew recipe my ancestors made in Colorado from daily fish mongers deliveries from the Pacific Coast & the Gulf of Mexico. Race is a state of leftist mind.

  7. Gail Combs says:

What is interesting is how revealing this all is. Gruber exemplifies the true arrogance of the Intellectual Left and no doubt is completely bewildered at the reactions he is getting.

I hope the people who the Intellectual Left uses as pawns wakeup and take note.

    • Don’t listen to rah, Gail. Never give up hope. I dream that one day I’ll wake up tall, dark and handsome.

    • B says:

It won’t happen because those people don’t think, they feel. I’ve seen very intelligent people be solid team D (or team R) but never use their intelligence towards political topics. It’s all emotion, it’s all what they feel.

Obamacare grabs team D fans by appealing to their emotions. Team D knows obamacare will implode. Then the fans will look towards government for solutions. That solution will be more government.

I wish people would research how medical care became this mess. They just won’t. It requires examining a century worth of “reforms”. It requires understanding Otto Von Bismarck’s stated goal with health care. People are too lazy to put in the time. The politicians know this. They also know people won’t listen to those who took the time. People who are called “conspiracy theorists” and worse.

Then there are some who do listen but they become violently angry and hold on to the lie because they can’t bare the thought they were duped.

So the train is a runaway. It’s going to crash.

      • Gail Combs says:

        B,
Most people do not have the time. One of the reasons for getting rid of the middle class (besides the fact they challenge the Elite monetarily) is because the middle class had leisure time. Now many are working two jobs just to stay in place.

Also the idea was to break-up the family. Make wage earners into itinerant workers moving from town to town every few years with no close ties to family or friends. This means the friction caused by teen rebellion is never mended and the younger generation never see the older generation have wisdom. Break-up the nuclear family so Mom has to work two jobs and Government Controlled Daycare raises the children.

Scotland has even taken it a step further with a new law: Every Child in Scotland to Be Supervised by State-Appointed Busybody

If you look at the moves over a century or so, you can see we are being slowly herded into serfdom. This has always been the plan of the Fabian Socialists. (Communist Socialists want bloody revolution.)

It is really scary when you pull back the curtain and see all the SNAFUs are not SNAFUs but carefully thought out plans to slowly edge us into free-range slavery. The elite are doing a darn fine job of it too because they have the time, the money, the intellectual resources** and the power.

** The Rhodes scholarship and the London School of Economics were specifically set up to grab the needed intellectual resources. Cecil Rhodes’ was committed to establishing a World Government. As he said in his will, “To and for the establishment, promotion and development of a Secret Society, the true aim and object whereof shall be for the extension of British rule throughout the world.” He had Lord Rothschild as executor. Rothschild had Lord Alfred Milner setup the ‘Round Tables’ as think tanks to influence politicians. The Council on Foreign Relations, the Committee on Economic Development, Trilateral Commission and the Royal Institute of International Affairs are some of ‘Milner’s Kindergartens’

Interestingly enough at about the same time the Rothschilds also helped the Fabians set up the London School of Economics to train future politicians, bankers and corporate leaders.
In her autobiography Our Partnership Beatrice Webb described how she and her husband were provided funds by the Rothschilds, Sir Julius Wernher and Sir Ernest Cassel to establish LSE. In 1920 Cassel saved LSE from financial dificulty with 472,000. Sir Evely Robert de Rothschild was Governor of LSE and Sir Ernest Cassel established the chair of ‘Economic Geography’ The Rockefeller foundation contributed $1,000,000 to LSE in 1923 and $4,105,592 between 1929 and 1952.

Sir Julius Charles Wernher, another German who also ended up in the UK, was a banker and then went into diamonds and mining in Africa like Rhodes. Also like Rhodes he became one of the wealthiest men in the UK.

  10. Don says:

Of course the far left wants single payer, aka socialized medicine, This was their way of attempting that as they knew Obamacare would be a disaster. I still believe that the Democrat candidate in 2016 will go there. Why do I believe that? Because the odds are most of Obamacare will still be in place in 2016, meaning even more national dissatisfaction with it and the magic bullet offered will be single payer.

No, I do not believe that Obamacare will be done away with between now and election 2016, weak Republican leadership from Boehner and his little crew is why. They have not learned the lesson of Eric Cantor, or the lesson of the election 2014. Until proven wrong about that, and I will gladly accept being proven wrong. Let us say that I’m from Missouri, so show me.

  11. LeeHarvey says:

Does no one remember the rumblings that Obamacare was destined to fail from the get-go, with the intention that it would pave the way for a true socialist healthcare takeover?

    • KTM says:

Absolutely. The inevitable failure of ObamaCare was a major topic discussed by Democrats. It played a key role especially in the discussion of the Public Option.

      http://my.firedoglake.com/scarecrow/2009/06/05/progressive-caucus-lays-out-principles-for-public-health-plan/

Progressives wanted a “robust” Public Option that must:

      · Enact concurrently with other significant expansions of coverage and must not be conditioned on private industry actions.

      · Consist of one entity, operated by the federal government, which sets policies and bears the risk for paying medical claims to keep administrative costs low and provide a higher standard of care.

      · Be available to all individuals and employers across the nation without limitation

      · Allow patients to have access to their choice of doctors and other providers that meet defined participation standards, similar to the traditional Medicare model, promote the medical home model, and eliminate lifetime caps on benefits.

      · Have the ability to structure the provider rates to promote quality care, primary care, prevention, chronic care management, and good public health.

      · Utilize the existing infrastructure of successful public programs like Medicare in order to maintain transparency and consumer protections for administering processes including payment systems, claims and appeals.

      · Establish or negotiate rates with pharmaceutical companies, durable medical equipment providers, and other providers to achieve the lowest prices for consumers.

      · Receive a level of subsidy and support that is no less than that received by private plans.

      · Ensure premiums must be priced at the lowest levels possible, not tied to the rates of private insurance plans.

Republicans and many moderate Democrats worried about giving the Public Option an in-kind subsidy by tying its doctor re-imbursement rates to Medicare, and argued for a “level playing field” where the public option would have to negotiate their own rates like any other insurance company.

      http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/chatterbox/2009/03/lemon_capitalism.html

“A public plan would most likely employ the payments rates used in Medicare, which are far lower than the rates paid by private payers. In fact, the average family of four with private insurance spends an additional $1,778 on health care each year because of Medicare and Medicaid underpayments to providers. On an aggregate level, commercial payers incur approximately $89 billion more in costs than they would if public and private payers all paid equivalent rates.

Williams is referring here to a phenomenon known as cost-shifting. Government health care programs today represent about 45 percent of the overall health care market in the United States. (Medicare alone represents about 20 percent.) That gives the government greater leverage than private health insurers in negotiating what they will pay hospitals and doctors. The correct term for describing what results is volume discount, not underpayment. Hospitals and doctors respond to the government’s bargaining power mostly by economizing but partly by shifting some of these costs onto private insurers.”

Progressives worried that without that large subsidy, a “weak” public option would have much higher premiums than private insurance, and end up as an embarrassment.

      http://pnhp.org/blog/2009/07/28/does-the-congressional-progressive-caucus-care-about-its-public-option-principles/

“For two reasons this criterion will almost certainly make it harder for the “public option” to undersell the insurance industry (or even keep its premiums from being above those of the industry).

First, people in poor health are more likely to value freedom to choose their own doctor and hospital. If the “public option” is the only insurer in a multiple-insurer setting that is not limiting choice of provider, the “public option” is likely to suffer “adverse selection,” which means it winds up enrolling a disproportionate number of sick people. “Public option” premiums would go up and premiums of the insurance industry would go down.

Secondly, if the “public option” is not allowed to channel patients to a small network of providers, it will be more difficult for the “public option” to extract discounts from those providers, let alone match the big discounts large insurers typically get. Again, that would drive “public option” premiums up vis a vis those of the industry.”

Democrats knew that Single Payer could not pass, it was voted down. So when they say that they eventually want Single Payer, that necessarily means that ObamaCare must somehow change the political landscape to make Single Payer palatable. Success wouldn’t do that, but failure might.

    • Gail Combs says:

      Rush Limbaugh for one.

In 2012 Paul Craig Roberts noted:

…Betsy McCaughey, former lieutenant governor of New York, writing in Investors Business Daily reports that “On Oct. 1, the Obama administration started awarding bonus points to hospitals that spend the least on elderly patients.” The result will be fewer knee and hip replacements, angioplasty, bypass surgery, and cataract operations. These procedures transformed aging by allowing the elderly, who formerly languished in wheelchairs and nursing homes, to lead active lives.

Obamacare rolls back the clock. “By cutting $716 billion from future Medicare funding over the next decade and rewarding the hospitals that spend the least on seniors, the Obama health law will make these procedures hard to get and less safe.” Doctors will be paid less to treat a senior on Medicare than to treat someone on Medicaid, a poverty program that is not financed by the payroll tax….

…What Obamneycare does is to steal from Medicare in order to finance Medicaid and private insurance policies. Both plans raise costs, reduce care for the elderly, and divert tax dollars away from health care to private profits….

  17. David A says:

True, he is not a whistle blower, but his comments truthfully reflected the arrogance of the progressives, and truthfully indicated the deception being employed by Obama and supporters. So in that sense it is not surprising that a democrat called his telling the truth about Obamacare stupid.
