“under the Intermediate Scenario”

NOAA has launched a new sea level website

In New York, under the Intermediate Scenario, sea level is expected to rise 11 inches from 2020 to 2050.”

National Sea Level Explorer – U.S. Sea Level Change

Three years ago NOAA’s sea level scenarios were failing badly, so they moved to goalposts out twenty years and made some new baseless predictions.

Apparent sea level rise rates at Manhattan are less than 3mm/year, all of which is due to subsidence. At that rate sea level will rise 3.5 inches by 2050.

  1. The high priests have examined the goat entrails and deduced that the auspices will be bad unless we double their budget.

  2. Mike Peinsipp says:

New York City ie Manhattan is a mud island. Put BILLIONS of tons of concrete, steel, glass, plastic, HUMANS, fuels etc etc etc and anything will “subside”!
Simple COMMON SENSE…oh we are talking about the HOLY LEADERS OF AGW ????

here’s a history lesson on Manhattan Island…. it’s a good deal bigger now than it was 400 years ago. some of it has been reclaimed from the harbor by filling it in to create more valuable real estate… the southern tip, several blocks were created. you can find a map on Google images of how Manhattan Island has changed since the white man arrived.

    • Robert Austin says:

      Mike,
There is also glacial isostatic rebound to factor into the sea level rise at New York. Areas formerly under the ice cap are still rising and areas on the periphery of the ice cap are still sinking.

  3. Bruce of Newcastle says:

Eleven inches? In thirty years? Wow, one man with a shovel could build a sufficient levee around Manhattan in that time.

The Dutch of course built their dikes by hand a thousand years ago, they’re several metres high.

    • arn says:

I already said year ago that a single person, laying a brick per day, would be enough to counter current sea level rise in Manhattan if the bricks are placed where they are needed.

And when we compare sea levels of the statue of liberty from 100 years ago with todays he can go more often on vaccation than Biden and still keep the island safe.
