The press says Antarctica is rapidly losing ice, which is causing severe storms

Antarctic sea ice extent is higher than 1979, 1982, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. It has increased 18% since 2016.

Antarctic sea ice extent has been higher than last year on all but 31 days, by an average of 502,811 km² – which is more than the area of California.
