Steve, seeing that last photo makes me wonder about something, there just has to be a piece of amber somewhere containing a true sample of prehistoric air. The CO2 ratio would be of interest to real scientists I think. Have you heard of any such research or did they destroy it all looking for dinosaur DNA in mosquito blood? This wiki page has some good photos of amber samples and they write this:
Clicking around their references I see lots about plants and spiders but nothing about air. Since they apparently can carbon date these pretty well I would think that this would be a useful spot check against CO2 assumptions. There used to be this concept of experimental control, a way to sanity test models and theories. It’s getting so bad now that I personally find it hard to believe anything that stated by post-modern science, PMS©®™.
Seems to me that we should be on a quest for preserved air, meaning pristine samples from any and all past times period, send it to Spectral Analysis and plot some known ratios of atmospheric elements and compounds. Amber is an obvious starting point for prehistoric samples, but perhaps some more recent air bubbles were trapped in glass which (according to wiki) dates back to Mesopotamia. There may be an outside chance that some container found in a pyramid in Egypt may have some.
And for a very recent control, why not send some *new* several-year-old Arctic sea ice to an independent lab. This is for sure: it had better log in at 390 ppm or else Houston, we’ve got a problem.

Blade, the problem is, CO2 at or near ground level isn’t as well mixed as people would lead you to believe. I’d have to look up the references, but there was a German that collected CO2 readings in many places, and they were all over the board.
It goes to the selective data alarmists use. They’ll use local ground CO2 levels, only when it fits their narrative, but when it doesn’t, it doesn’t count. I suspect that would be the reaction if one would do what you are suggesting. For example, ice cores? Local ground level CO2 is useful. All other, not so much.
That’s one scary pic – is “V” for real or what?
So what is the lesson? That when we reach 2000 PPM., dinosaurs will again rule the world? Or maybe Hillary will rule the world. That would be by far the greater of the two evils.
