Deluded, Misled Or Dishonest?

People who claim that the climate was “better” in the past are either deluded, misled or simply dishonest. There is abundant evidence that nature has always been harsh. After the MWP, every single person in Greenland died. The Anasazi and other civilizations disappeared during the MWP.

It will always be possible to find places which had more hospitable environmental conditions at some point in the past, and vice-versa.

The lack of warming has caused much of the global warming community to cross the line into blatant fraud. Cold is not caused by heat or lack of ice. Fewer hurricanes and tornadoes does not mean more hurricanes and tornadoes. Filling in pink temperatures will not make the Earth warmer. Lying about the Arctic will not make the ice disappear.

Ah, but you have to convince Mr and Mrs Average-who-always-believe-what-the -media-hypes-in-between-X factor-and-Eastenders-on-the-thing-called-“The News”.
They love a bit of unharnessed over-hyped alarmism, it means they don’t have to think for themselves.

  2. suyts says:

I think the dishonest are misleading the deluded.

  3. GregW says:

I agree. It’s the alarmism, even hysteria, about an unproven idea based on computer models that supposedly can predict the future that is the problem. These people are not as dedicated to science as they think they are.

  4. Latitude says:

These are glorified weathermen, they are not that stupid.
    They are lying on purpose.

    • drewski says:

Of course they are lying on purpose – they are part of the “SSSSS” Super Secret Society of Subverted Scientists. In order to join this nefarious organization they must “fudge” the data of at least one government-funded climate study and swear an oath to their new God, Celsius.

Their mission is to infiltrate the UN and begin discussions with all anti-American governments in order to create a scam so monumental that it will enslave the citizens of the United States. And what scam could be so all powerful as to bring down the greatest country the world has ever known? Global Warming! A magical theory so audacious and unbelievable that it has captivated ALL the world’s national science academies and the vast majority of experts in those fields.

If it were not for the tireless and unselfish efforts of great Americans like Marc Moron and others like him this perversion of “scientifically-engineered social justice” would have already have wormed its way into your freedom and would have very likely cost you your job.

Make no mistake, my friends, it is not a coincidence that the word “war” is in Warming.

  5. GregW says:

Speaking of the deluded, Canada bashing Australian Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery seems to fit in that catagory. (He earns US$170000 a year – about $670000 over 4 years – for this part time job.)

    From Tim Blair:
And then there’s Prius person Tim Flannery, whose latest flanasonic book promo delivers a tardload of mind-blanking numbtalk:

The human global superorganism is shaping up with extraordinary rapidity.
(Hadn’t noticed it myself, but thanks for the warning.)

No species in the four-billion-year history of the planet has ever gone through a demographic transition, and we’re doing it in such a brief period of time.
(Really? That’s a shock. You mean to say that pelicans and beetles and such don’t structure their communities around salaries and material status?)

So that’s a cause for hope.
(Damn straight. I’m not paying all this rent just to live next door to pelicans.)

We have to remember that six years ago no one had heard of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. We have come a long way in the last five years or so, and if we make progress at that rate then I am hopeful that we will overcome this problem.

(We sure are. The problem of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth is quickly being overcome.)

    Read the whole thing.

How about all the species that died out from the meteor? I can’t spell Chicksalube correctly. :0)

After the MWP, every single person in Greenland died.

um, not to be too picky, but after every climate episode (warmcold, wetdry, hotchilly, what ever), EVERYONE died. Just because some died from old age does not make them any less dead.

    • Sleepalot says:

      Ianae, aiui,…
There were two groups of people in Greenland during the MWP: the viking colonists (in the south) and the native eskimos (in the north). The colonists
starved and died, the eskimos survived.

  8. Robert of Ottawa says:

I see twwo groups: The scientist believers who originally thought they had a good theory, and are now so wedded to it that they delude themselves about the facts. Then there are the dishonest who profit, or hope to profit, from what has moved from an errant theory to a downright lie. Included in this group are many scientists who’s funding is dependent on it.

    • Jimbo says:

You are spot on Robert. They call us ‘deniers’ but we all know where the finger should pointing. The lack of warming is a problem that they can’t duck forever. Arctic sea ice is being a little stubborn.

  9. bubbagyro says:

I think, Steve, you have given us a false dichotomy.

You left out the coerced. Remember that this is a grand extortion racket. Think of the poor, once honest, graduate student seeking a grant or a publication goal.

  10. Andy Weiss says:

The warmist movement can’t be bothered by the fact that it isn’t warming. There is too much money at stake. So color in the reds and pinks one way or another.

  11. Chris Watson says:

I thought the inhabitants of Greenland evacuated, they were a nautical people.

  12. pwl says:

Three cheers for Steven Goddard on this excellent post!

  13. Sleepalot says:

“Anasazi” were in the south west US.

  14. Bitter Clinger says:

So nice reading this post and all the replies. Like a little island of sanity in a rising sea of madness.

Most of the time I feel so alone…

  15. kevin king says:

I’m only repeating what has been said many times before on many other blogs. The CAGW panic is symptomatic of some deep-seated human urge to feel that we live in special times. Hence the spiritual spin put on it. It ceased to be a science as soon as James Hansen made his quack speech before Congress. Richard Feynman recognised that we live in an a non-scientific age even 50 years back, when he and others were being to uncover the strange nature of matter and light. If he saw what passes for science today I’m sure he would be spinning in his grave.

    • drewski says:

Yes and the fact that the anti-science mob are right for the undeniable evidence that being anti-science is right!

      • suyts says:

lol, nice bit of projection. Skeptics haven’t done anything but advocate the climatologists start practicing science. You know, stuff like adhere to the scientific method, come up with falsifiable postulates, show the data from their conclusions…….. weird stuff like that.

      • drewski says:

Suyts, well that is refreshing to hear. Its nice to find reasonable people like you on blog sites like this one who also believe that the lynch mob against Michael Mann and the tempest in the teapot known as Climategate were just the rantings of the lunatic fringe as shown by the repeated vindication carried out by those numerous scientific investigations.

Keep up the good fight and support your local scientist.

      • suyts says:

drewski!!! You’re a funny person!!! Climategate was just rantings??? bwahahahaha…….. sorry….. I thought those were real e-mails….. please clear that up for me. Which part of the obfuscation, lies, detraction, manipulation of the (pal-review) science, conspiracy to circumvent FOI laws, (on both sides of the pond), conspiracy to hide money, ($10,000 increments) and other general lack of respect for law and societal norms was mischaracterized in the e-mails? You point them out to me and I’ll be sure to e-mail Mike, Phil , Keith, Kevin…… well, et. al…. We’ll get it corrected!!! You just point out which one is a lie and I’ll do my best to set it strait!!!

Drewski (the Cool Whip Cowboy) is hasseling you guys now? He used to do the same with us http://www.climatechangedispatch.com/the-money-trail/7159-nightfall-on-the-solar-industry “# drewski 2010-07-07 02:45
agreed, it was said that if you were born into a western country in 1980, you would have already come across 22,000 petroleum based products by n ow (including Cool whip!), so the oil that we use should be for tangible and recyclable products, not for ephemeral and extremely inefficient transportation and heating with their by-products of pollution and heat-trapping gasses.”

Don’t worry, he’ll tire and leave eventually, he only drops by to annoy.

    All the best… Jeff
