The classic symptoms of the witch-burning mentality. Blame every natural event (La Nina in this case) on the evil works of humans.
Texas Governor Prays for Rain While Denying Climate Change
As climate change denial has reached a fevered pitch in this country, its presence is becoming undeniable.
Over the past year, there’s been a series of unprecedented events: massive floods in Australia and Pakistan, enormous fires in Russia, never-before-seen strings of tornadoes in the midwest US, fluctuating droughts and downpours in the southeast US – dropping rain in one day that’s usually seen in an entire year.
Wow. 40 inches of rain in one day.
Hmm, blaming the Texas drought purely on la Nina looks like an act of faith too. A little Feynmanesque scepticism as to attribution is called for here.
Bill,
Did you read this? http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/la-nina-brings-drought-to-texas/
It’s only unprecendented if it hasn’t happened in the last five years or so. Oh, wait, the lakes were down three years ago, then they filled back up, then down. That’s Texas–today it’s cool. Tomorrow, 20 degrees warmer.
Texas in an El Nino year is dry and hot. Texas in a La Nina year is drier and hot. It’s just hot. Africa hot.
Lets see! 40 inches per year is considered drought conditions near the Great Smokies and in the Southern Nevada Desert it is ten years worth of rain.
Bill:
Natural Ocean Atmosphere weather patterns are responsible for weather patterns in Texas also. It might have something to do with Texas being a small portion of the globe and every region of the global surface is affected by Ocean Atmosphere weather patterns. Shifting patterns in the ENSO region of the Pacific provide evidence of expected weather in certain locations.
not to mention that neither pakistani nor russian weather events are linked to q-lie-mate change in any way. this recently proved fact of course won’t stop journo-whores from claiming the opposite…
here in the waterlogged NW, I think we set a record a few years ago in November with 19+ inches…. for the month.
Florida gets some gushers. It’s usually a squall that comes and goes in an hour, but can flood a neighborhood. Usually a very confined area.
Noah might have seen 40 inches in a day. 🙂
Most if not all of the “worst ever” US events took place many years ago.
…but….but….but…. its unprecedented …
“……never before-seen strings of tornadoes in the midwest US,……”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA ……riiiight. Morons. I wonder what color the sky is in their world?
