Serreze 2010 : “That is simply not the case”

Earth to Mark – the graph below is from your organization. It shows that the ice is “getting thicker again” and has been for several years.

I’m so scared of arctic melt!!!! Golly! That could mean warmth! And we all know that’s bad!

[SNIP]! I’m still running my space heater!

Mark is a [SNIP]. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming the cold on these aZZbags, but I do blame the rising cost of electricity on them. I have a decent job, so, I can afford to be warm during this time of unusual cold. Others are not so fortunate. There are people that wish nothing more than to be productive members of society……… and be able to afford to warm their family. WHAT ARE WE DOING TO THESE PEOPLE???? Do people not understand what desperation causes?

  2. Amino Acids in Meteorites says:

    OT

San Jose just beat the Detroit Red Wings. They lead the best of 7 series 3-0.

  3. Martin C says:

Is there a chance either Walt or the Julienne could provide some comment about the arctic ice? Something that is believable?

  4. Jimbo says:

The Arctic had been in ‘death spirals’ before and always came back. Serreze has put his scientific reputation on the line here. If he is shown to have completely failed then who will listen to anything he has to say in the future? I won’t and never have.

  5. Jimbo says:

By the way if the Arctic gets back to 1980 thickness and extent while temps trend down then AGW theory will have been falsified.

  6. Paul in Sweden says:

Sorry Jimbo, Should there be thicker ice over a greater extent this will of course be considered by alarmist as damaging to the environment, as I am fairly certain that CAGW creates more ice also.

Didn’t alarmists last year explain the increases in Antarctic sea ice extent as an effect of warming temps?

    • Mike Davis says:

Temperature rise on a global scale will result in some regions receiving more cold and a possible return to glaciation in some regions. Newfoundland was the center of the last major ice sheet and that region could again become covered year round. Global warming could result in a mile thick ice sheet covering Chicago within the near future*. Some models have shown just this scenario!
      * 80,000 years is near future when looking at the earth’s history.
Death Spiral could also include excess ice cover as that would cause extreme loss of flora and fauna in the region that depends on some thawing during summer and fall.
The movie “Day After Tomorrow” was a conservative look at a possible future if we do not stop burning the planet with a minor trace gas whose presence in the atmosphere enables photosynthesis and my local greenhouse operators say the more the merrier!
The No Science Is Done Center (NSIDC) produces many reasons to not trust the Chicken Little Brigade!
