Why Do They Call Louisiana And Mississippi “Delta States?”

They call them that, because they were formed as part of the Mississippi River delta. When rivers flood, the water overflows its channel, spreads and slows down. When the water slows down, it drops silt – forming new land. That is how the delta states formed – by successive floods coming down the Mississippi River.

So next time a mental midget tells you that Mississippi is flooding due to CO2, tell them that the reason the state of Mississippi exists –  is because of floods.

No, no no! They are called Delta states because Delta Burke lived there!

Something very similar applies to the Bangadesh delta which was formed due to rising sea levels.

“Development of the Ganges-Brahmaputra River delta began ca. 11000 yr B.P., when rising sea level flooded the Bengal basin, thereby trapping most of the river’s discharge on the inner margin.”

As for coral island atolls they generally rise with sea level rise and fall with sea level falls. Only when people understand these forces are they able to see the AGW alarm for what it is. Fear mongering.

But if, if the rate of sea level rise accelerates. They have been showing the opposite I’m afraid.
