Hansen says :
Clearly, if we burn all fossil fuels, we will destroy the planet we know. Carbon dioxide would increase to 500 ppm or more. We would set the planet on a course to the ice-free state, with sea level 75 metres higher. Climatic disasters would occur continually.

During the 160 million years when Dinosaurs ruled the planet, CO2 levels were much higher than 500 ppm. I have never heard any suggestion from any paleontologist that Dinosaurs faced “continual climate disasters.”
The Early Cretaceous was a mild “Ice House” world. There was snow and ice during the winter seasons, and Cool Temperate forests covered the polar regions.
actually higher temps and CO2 levels supported much larger animals, and larger populations of those animals
Why were the ppm to high then? Dinosaur farts?
It was warmer……….
It’s interesting that while the poles wern’t doing a great job at reflecting the sun’s rays we still did not get runaway warming.
More biological activity then than now!
The more biotic material that exists the more decay and bacteria that produces CO2 to enhance the cycle producing more biota growth and more decay. Until a Major Event happens to change the pattern.
I have never heard any suggestion from any paleontologist that Dinosaurs faced “continual climate disasters.”
Doesn’t mean they weren’t worried about it. Could have been stress that caused them to die off.
Species adaptability is stressed when climate changes rapidly. Gradual changes are much easier for survival.
I wish I could pick the stresses in my life. Doesn’t work that way though.
Similarly if you could lose your job gradually over the course of years it would be easier to adapt.
So if we reached 500ppm gradually, when we got to 500 there wouldn’t be as many disasters as Hansen is asserting?
..and how much is “gradual”?
Whatever the high priest of AGW says it is. Have you lost your faith?
