Global Warming Makes Antarctica Hot And Peru Cold

I’ve often wondered if you could converse with more rational people in a mental institution.

The disconnect between what is happening and what is reported is giving me a bad case of the cogdis.
The continual harping abut ice shelves and sea level .
The implication that stuff melts at -70º F.
The melting glaciers that precipitate no liquid.
The faltering ski industry, w/ 23 ft of snow and open till July.
And of course the concept that everything hinges on a minute amount of
a completely necessary trace gas in the atmosphere, that has not been really tied causally to any of it.
    Makes my head hurt.

Blood is coming out of my eyes as I see Antarctic ice recovering the fastest in 10 years, and above climatology. As a scientist myself, I laugh and cry at the same time.

    • Jimbo says:

The facts literally on the ground no longer matter. The temperature trend over the last 10 years or so does not matter. What matters with any religion is to repeat the mantra.

Rate of sea level rise flat = talk of future threat
Antarctica sea ice good = look at peninsula only
Polar bear number steady = talk of future threat
ACE hurrican index at 30 year low = ignore and talk of future threats
and so on, and so on………………..

This is denial. Over 30 years of global warming and the Earth is not delivering the doom and gloom that was promised. Even Hansen is questioning himself deep inside while talking about Mount Pinatubo and aerosols.

The people in the Mental Institution are much easier to communicate with as they have a better grip on reality.

  4. Andy Weiss says:

There are only penguins, so it’s easy to make up stories with no one actually living there to call them out.

    Ok,
So Last night after lamenting the obvious propagandizing, I went to watch some TV.
NatGeo- I caught the last 15 minutes of their “Deadly weather 2010” roundup.
They had a lengthy explanation of how the moisture from the Caribbean, went over scandinavia, missed the European farmlands, bypassed the russian brush fire zones and finally dropped on Pakistan creating massive floods.
They blamed this on the jet stream changing from our “thickening” of the atmosphere.
I just laid this out for my daughter.
She said ” That is complete nonsense, that violates the coriolis effect. The Earth would have to be spinning in three different directions for that to be true”.
    Is she right ?

They then followed this up with t report about disappearing , sinking islands in the Chesapeake bay. And bolstered that with the usual pork faced Climate scientist claiming a coming sea level rise of 3-6 feet this century engulfing NY London etc.
More conservative than 75 meters anyway.
    But they are pounding it.
And the very next show was about the “worst tornado season ever-2011 ” at which point I mercifully passed out.
