Fort Collins was hit by an intense hail storm on Wednesday night.
Don Day of DayWeather in Cheyenne, Wyo., said Wednesday night’s storms were so intense because of cool atmospheric conditions and an upslope effect, possibly producing up to 3 inches of rain in some places.
This event could not have happened – because there simply isn’t enough moisture in the atmosphere when the air is cool.
Dunno if you’ve seen this Steve, if not here’s a heads up H/T Bishop Hill/Barry Woods.

HaHa. So Jones is saying that one El Nino year suddenly makes an global warming “statistically significant”.
What will he say when the current La Nina year finishes.
This really does prove that Jones and his ilk are totally devious and cannot be relied on to tell us the truth.
In one Paul!
There are lies, damned lies, then there are statistics. Will he do the same in 2012? This is the travesty of global cooling, it makes grown men desperate.
What warming?:

BTW, ain’t they ever heard of Orographic rainfall? You know – when the saturated air cools as it rises – it has to dump it’s load.
But that cool air was filled with MORE CO2 than normal, causing more water particles to cling to the excessive CO2, therefore providing more available water-type precipitants to be present for the “unprecedented”
rain eventClimate Catastrophe. Also, the cool air was actually filled with more “warm energy” than pre-Industrial Age cool air. This is yet more rock-solid proof of Catastrophic AnthropogenicGlobal Warming Climate Change Climate DisruptionClimate Weirding. If you don’t believe it, you need to get a tattoo.Heh…sheer awesomeness 🙂
BTW, violent storms are produced by solar ground heating with increased humidity. When a cold mass inverts over it, the cyclone generated by cold air falling produces upwelling at the core. As the pressure reduces in the column (thunderhead), it cools even more than it would in contact with the cold upper air mass. The result? Dramatic loss of moisture and heavy rain and hail. The cold mass is eventually warmed by the thermodynamic loss of heat from the upwelling hot humid air. This is why the storm loses its “punch” as it moves on.
So the article has truth to it. Storms are just massive heat pumps moving heat from one position to another. BTW, electric heat pumps, for a similar reason, cannot function when humidity is below 30% and/or 50°F.
bubba, you missed the point…….
I have to share this:
“One German organic farm has killed twice as many people as the Fukushima nuclear disaster and the Gulf Oil spill combined”
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20110610/D9NOV37O0.html
I never buy produce listed as organic. That means feces.
I never buy products that say “no preservatives”, either. These should have black box warnings, like “Warning, this product subject to bacterial or fungal infestation, possibly producing lethal disease in the consumer. Use at your own risk”.
In this case it would have made no difference; the sprouts are produced in a steel drum with a little moisture and 38 deg C temperature; no fertilizer is required as the seed contains all needed nutrients. You can call it industrial or you can call it organic, doesn’t matter. Sprouts are dangerous either way as the production method favors the proliferation of salmonella and E Coli. This producer proudly advertised his product as “organic farming since 1978”; but it’s just steel drums with warm moisture and seeds… Here’s the website of the producer:

Shock news: cooler air the result of higher moisture – the result of warmer atmosphere.
If you’re not high… you’re lying.
