Even after our warmist friends adjust the trend upwards, Texas temperatures show no trend. However, before USHCN tampered with the raw data, Texas thermometers showed a strong cooling trend.

USHCN data manipulations change most of the US from a long term cooling trend into a long term warming trend.

Nice blink compare! Interesting that they’re adjusting the max temps.
But, but, but….’scientists’ don’t manipulate the data!!!!!
LOL
But we are not talking about real scientists!
Yep, the raw data where I live shows cooling over the past 100+ years, and that is displayed on the honest map. But the ‘new and improved’ map shows we went from a cooling trend to a warming trend. We need to get these guys busy on fixing the economy!
Who ARE these temperature adjuster “scientists”? Is there no way to make them accountable or even explain there “adjustments”?
Some adjustments are explained, others, not so much. Many adjustments are made to fix discrepancies for Time of Observation Bias. (TOB) All of the temps weren’t uniformly recorded at the same time of day, so in this instance they adjusted the reads. Click on the second link offered by Steve. Menne et al is oft referred. There are also adjustments for UHI, though I wonder how they can when no one can agree on how much UHI biases the record. Then here are other adjustments for “homogeneity”. Then, of course, there is the algorithm Dr. Hansen applies to the temps that causes some temps to be ignored, or thrown out of the database.
Oddly, in all cases in which I’ve seen, the end results of the adjustments have one of two possible outcomes, or both. That is, either the past becomes cooler, or the nearer to present becomes warmer, and sometimes both. I’ve never seen a case where that didn’t happen with the adjustments.
I think that TOBS is bullshit. It assumes that all observers are either irresponsible or stupid.
I think so, too. What are the odds that every adjustment equally applied would work out to a cooler past and warming present simply by manipulating numbers.
The adjustment values are arbitrary and subjective. And they call that science?
On my way home yesterday from Wisconsin:
Wisconsin border: 78°F
Chicago O’Hare 88°F
Orland Park, IL (in the woods) 79°F
All in about 1.5 hours. Weather was scattered clouds,
This is very typical UHI. I live next to a forest preserve, so my temps are generally the same as rural, plus maybe a degree or two. The reported temps in Chicago are basically bogus, UHI inflated temps.
