Julia : $1.1 Million Fine For Speaking The Truth In Australia

Julia showing off the official carbon tax salute.

SHOPS and restaurants could face fines up to $1.1 million if waiters or sales staff wrongly blame the carbon tax for price rises or exaggerate the impact.

And households are being warned to watch out for telephone scammers offering to deposit carbon tax compensation into their bank accounts.

The prices watchdog, the ACCC, will today launch its countdown to the July 1 carbon tax with a special focus on helping small businesses understand their obligations and consumers to be vigilant for false claims.

No, far more chilling – because it was so shamelessly explicit – was the promise made by Greens deputy leader Christine Milne on Monday to punish newspapers which publish articles sceptical of global warming and critical of the Gillard Government.

To hear what she said on the ABC’s Q&A program in supposedly free and democratic Australia, after all the lessons we thought we’d learnt from Stalinist Russia and fascist Germany, is staggering.

    what 25th may to june?
someone got the months screwed up there.

as for the Liar and that green nazi milne.
well the Carbon Farming Initiative touted as voluntary will be mandatory real soon. the cost of advisors and consultants for every farm to comply with mountains of crappy rules and regs will send many broke, make many others throw it in and stop producing and sure as hell WILL jack prices up on all food at the source..
all fertilizers going skywards apart from monopoly rip off suppliers then we add carbon fines to them too..
they reckon transport fuels not carbon priced?
hell we pay 50% Tax on it all anyway.energy used to refine +carbon fines for processing will rise the prices+ the insanity of producing processing here but paying Singapore parity prices to buy it back?
the NBN is another fail in motion and our debt cielings being hiked another 50$ billion.
now you see why they want to gain funds on the so called carbon tax.
scam everywhich way you look at it.

The US is not far behind. Don’t forget the kid who was told by his teacher he couldn’t criticize Obama.

  3. Eric Simpson says:

Just the thought of the tax is causing mother nature to freeze up. The same with the economy. They passed a law down there that you go to prison if you say that you are raising prices because of the carbon tax. I guess they don’t have a thing called the First Amendment down under. Of course, don’t worry, in America if the libs gain (full) control, the constitution won’t prevent them from outlawing any speech gainsaying their laws, and The One.

There was a time when a free people would rise up and remove with violence a sovereign who, committed far less injury than what is now being perpetrated on the people of Australia.

    • leftinbrooklyn says:

When that injury has completely settled in, & the people see it’s ongoing results, that time to rise will come again. It’s inevitable….

  5. Andy DC says:

I alwsys thought Aussies were a proud, independent, hell raising, freedom loving people. It is shocking that they would roll over and submit to this kind of abuse without a whimper.

  6. Robertvdl says:

The new power structure is in place for when they need it . We just have to wait for the new Reichstag burning.

  7. Australia does not have a bill of rights or a constitution that covers freedom of speech and other central claims of the citizenry. Being a Commonwealth country it is quite possible to pass draconian laws if the political party in question was prepared to accept the consequences at the next election. Past Australian governments also banned publications they disagreed with, although fortunately this is much harder to do in the age of the internet.

    • Beale says:

It is very likely that before the time for the next election, Ms. Gillard will abrogate the constitution and establish an undisguised dictatorship.

She had implants. That’ll do it!
