Trenberth Talking Out Of Where The Sun Never Shines

Trenberth lives in Boulder, yet seems to know little about the weather in Colorado. In his Judy Woodruff interview, he said that “we don’t expect to see wildfires this early in the season”

That is just freaking dense. The worst southwestern fires normally happen in June, because they come during drought years before the monsoons start in July. The largest fire in recent Colorado history was the Hayman fire, which started on June 8, 2002. The fires which burned up the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico in 1977, 2000, and 2010 happened in May and June. Like Colorado, Arizona’s largest fire occurred in June 2002.

Once July hits, a strong flow of moisture comes into the southwest. Trenberth, as climate chief at NCAR, should probably try to learn a little bit about the climate.

    You say –
“…climate chief at NCAR, should probably try to learn a little bit about the climate.”
    and IMO
…climate chief at NCAR, should probably try to learn a little bit about the weather and how to observe it. Learn how to compare it to past records, and how to make credible judgments.

    Just a thought.

Ah but you see, Trenberth is a modeler and doesn’t really live in Boulder, he lives in Modelville

Yes,I saw the Judy Woodruff interview. I’m sure Judy knew she was being ‘snowed.’
