Never mind that Fort Collins is the greenest I have ever seen it in August. We are apparently having either a severe or extreme drought. Arizona and Arkansas have also been getting heavy rain, but the government says that they are about to shrivel up and blow away.
What a joke.
10″ in the last 60 days! WTF does it take to end a drought around here? 30 feet?
http://naturalclimate.wordpress.com/2012/08/02/colorado-drought-6/
We normally only get 14 inches per year.
Mid. TN was over 5″ above normal for the month of July.
With droughtflood, there is an exceptional drought even after exceptional floods. That never used to happen before AGW.
You can email the Colorado State Climatologist and ask him. His response (if any) would be intriguing: http://www.stateclimate.org/state.php?state_id=CO
Outside Carbondale, CO we got 2.7″ in July, a lot for any year where the annual amount is 16″ average.
We had about six inches at my house in Fort Collins.
I don’t know where in the effing hell you live, Mars, I guess, but you need a very serious reality check. This is the most offensive absurd blog I have seen today. We are standing in a burned up cornfield over here, selling dairy cows for slaughter, how do you do and chopping corn for silage thank you very much, and you some damn place in Colorado in a pocket have the utter temerity to come onto the internet and make fun of the many people in America who are in basic survival mode with nothing whatsoever in their crops this year. WordPress ougta summarily ban people who are too stupid to function.
Do you even have any idea at all that you are offending the likes of United States Agriculture and Farmers in the Collective.
You know what. Stay in your little pocket of whatever the fuck in wherever. We do not need people like you spewing even more hate and bullshit out and around the rest of the passing public.
Don’t be a moron. Of course there is drought in some places, but the drought monitor shows it much more extensive than it is. You are the only person spreading hate here.
yes the is a drought in some areas and it is normal for those area but it shows moderate drought in my area and the nights are sooo cool the days are normal for this time of year and we just had a down pour you would not believe. my electric bill was 200 this month, my daughter gets cold easy., normally this time of year it is 80.
There is no drought here, maybe their drought monitor is broke LOL
Would you please wake up and realize that there have been many bad crops in the past? Drought is nothing new, heatwaves are nothing new, hurricanes are nothing new, tornadoes are nothing new. Nobody wants to see weather disasters, but it is the alarmist side that is spreading disinformation that all of this is something new or “worst ever”, when that is totally untrue.
If one side of a debate is spreading lies, doesn’t the other side have the right to respond with the truth? If nothing else, there is plenty of dirty linen that needs to be aired.
I disagree with you, although I appreciate your comment and interest. I do not think the University of Nebraska at Lincoln who records data is out to create an alarmist fake issue.
Colorado had 2% snow cover? I was in Tin Cup this summer for three weeks and when we got there it was horrid. Brown grass and wilted dandelions, dusty soil. The monsoons did come, thank God, and some of Colorado has greened up. And it’s raining in the midwest this week. That said, it’s too late for corn, trees are dying, the rivers are very low.
Sorry, but you guys sound like Rush Limbaugh, making fun of a disaster. Take a look at the brown fields of Kansas and yuck it up.
The fact that there is a bad drought in Kansas does not mean we are having an extreme drought in Colorado. Please take your hysterics and irrational thinking elsewhere.
You, sir, are clearly misinformed. Let me see… Who am I going to listen to? Some guy. Or the National Climate Data Center?
NCDC is correct because NCDC is correct. Nice argument.
It’s pretty simple, Steve. You’re saying the NCDC is wrong and you’ve posted a rainfall map and given no context to ‘prove’ your assertion. The map doesn’t note how far into deficit these regions were before they received this rain. It also doesn’t take into account increased rates of drying due to all-time record high temperatures.
I’m saying that I’m not foolish enough to believe you over the scientists at NCDC, who clearly have more than just one rainfall map to look at or one talk radio show host to listen to.
So it’s not really an argument at all, its just a statement that you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about and I’m not going to listen to you until you can provide more. It’s pretty simple, really. What’s not to get?
NASA or you?
I take NASA.
NCDC or you?
I take NCDC.
Clear?
There’s absolutely no way Georgia still has exceptional drought with all the rain that has fallen over the last 4-5 weeks, and then eastern Texas, which is actually one of the few areas with no rain, has no drought, wow, we need to make our own drought monitor, can’t keep relying on these frauds.
Then the areas over the pacific Northwest with no rain, have no drought? Wow, this map had to be made up.
