Look for the Obama photo op with the US gold medal winners, if they get past Japan.

missed the game…but a few of my friends were pretty pissed at the call, but…can’t comment, since i didn’t see it…to bad… the Canadian women were not favoured but they put up a pretty good battle i heard.

Bizarre calls, although there were two previous non-calls in the box that favored the Canadians. The ref may have thought she was self-correcting. An epic match.
Absolutely horendus calls by the ref ?! She had it set in her mind that as soon as she gave the free kick she was going to call a penalty! Garbage she should never ref another game nor should she have to after she receives her pay
It all should have been moot. Trancredi should have been red carded at the 55 minute mark. She purposely stomped on Carly Lloyds head. It was blatant and disgusting and Canada would have had been short handed most of the second half.
Violent language was heard …. FIFA wants soccer to get more exposure in the US so they fix the game.
Normaly the goalie would first get a warning for holding the ball too long then maybe a yellow card but not straight to a free kick and then the handball call was unbelieveable! The USA lost to Japan in the last World Cup final so the olympic committee must have had a USA – Japan final setup in their minds with all of the high TV ratings and advertizer index. Shameful and suspicious.
absolutely appalling… ref was paid off to make Canada lose. and now FIFA wants to suspend players b4 the bronze medal game…. US does not deserve to win…. the whole thing is suspect
Yeah Canada got ripped off. Did you see how the ref let that U.S. player get away with hitting the bottom of our players foot with her face while she was on the ground! CHEATERS!
Missed calls happen all the time, but invoking a never used rule to set up a critical free kick is malicious.
I see the judgement call that goes your way, and most certainly would have cost the game, is ok. Bit the judgement call that goes against you isn’t.
The referee invoked a never used rule during a non action moment to determine the outcome of the game. The goal keeper was doing exactly what every other goalkeeper in the world does. It was clearly premeditated – things like that don’t happen by accident.
I wonder if US TEAM will share the $1.5 million awarded for the Gold Medal with Norvegian ref.
