Most people would say “Thank God” but the missing rain makes the level of ground water sink.
We were pummeled by four hurricanes — Charley, Frances, Jeanne and Ivan — in 2004. We have had zilch hurricanes since then. Which is good news. Experiencing just one storm (Charley) was quite enough.
No, the last hurricane to hit Florida was Wilma in October 2005. Wilma was also the last major hurricane to hit the United States, and since then we have entered the longest period in which the US hasn’t seen a major hurricane hit the coastline (almost 7 years).
