Scarecrow Alert

Check out this straw man from Dead Science.

Distracting from the news that Arctic sea-ice extent reached a record low on Sept.16 is a widely circulating blog article claiming that at the opposite end of the Earth, Antarctic sea ice is more than making up for the losses.

In the post, climate change skeptic and blogger Steven Goddard states that Antarctic sea ice reached its highest level ever recorded for the 256th day of the calendar year on Sept. 12. He reasons that the Southern Hemisphere must be balancing the warming of the Northern Hemisphere by becoming colder (and thus, net global warming is zero).

I said nothing of the sort. This is a classic technique of fraudsters. He couldn’t argue against anything I said, so he simply lied about what I said.

So what’s new? Many alarmists are constantly misrepresenting anyone who doesn’t agree with them, regardless of how much or little their opinions differ. When they’re losing the argument(s), it’s all they have left

  2. scizzorbill says:

Actually, net global warming is less than zero.

  3. Me says:

Projections made from climate models all predict that global warming should impact Arctic sea ice first and most intensely, Serreze said.

Who was the alarmist here that said modles don’t predict? 😆

  4. Andy OZ says:

And now the Australian ABC is repeating (not reporting) the NSIDC’s latest alarmist press release.
Nothing on Antarctica the proverbial elephant in the room.

  5. Me says:

Steven, Did you screen capture that article?

  6. Joseph Bastardi says:

Well I am saying it shows that along with the actual data. I spoke on this at ICC7 as to the “meaning” of an expanding ice cap surrounded by harder to cool water, while the core of the cold was at the center of southern ice cap, as opposed to a shrinking northern ice cap where he core of winter cold is from continents surrounding it, but also warmth. The uniqueness of the planets make up with most of the land in the n hem and water in the south, plus natural cycles show that overall the earth is in balance though for the time the distortion has the warming in the north, But the global temp which has leveled off and even begun to fall shows that this distortion is just that and will soon reverse. The trouble will be if there is no corresponding warming around the s hem icecap and the reversal of its tendency. But there is no global warming in the past 15 years even as co2 has gone up, but the distortion has left the north warm enough to melt the cap ( with the help of the still warm amo) while the cold in the south is enough to allow it expand. So you may not have said, but I will and I have this to back me up

  7. Jimmy Haigh says:

It looks likely, from the graph that Joseph Bastard posted, that CO2 will reach 400ppm some time next year. No doubt that will be a big day for the warm-mongers.

  8. Me says:

Why did Serreze mention the Ozone hole and blather on about that only to downplay it later?

  9. The Article Title Reads:
“Record-High Antarctic Sea Ice Levels Don’t Disprove Global Warming”

That’s true. But the problem is not just increasing Antarctic sea ice. It’s mainly the problem that none of AGW’s novel predictions have yet to materialise.

  10. Billy Liar says:

CO2 thinks globally and acts locally.

  11. Shooter says:

“Don’t disprove Global Warming” – it’s not global warming if the warming is only in one place. If the planet were really warming, both poles would lose ice. It amazes me how desperate alarmists have become. If it’s warmer, it’s AGW. If it’s cooler, it’s AGW. If they’re short, it’s because of AGW. If they’re tall, it’s because of AGW.
