”A tree a day will keep global warming away,” Barack Obama told the students of Holy Name High School, Colaba

Excellent news! Now he can drop all his plans to regulate CO2. He still needs to bankrupt the coal industry though.

He’s got the EPA and a slew of enviro groups burning the midnight oil on that bankruptcy plan. They’re not going to stop with coal companies. They’re after the fishing, oil, retail and farming industries too.
No clue about the realities of nature.
According to what I have read GHGs being increased will restrict the loss of warmth to space and that will result in global warming. It is time for a wake up call! Trees do the same thing. The micro climate in a forest retains more warmth than a cleared field or a garden. It also remains cooler on warm days than an open field but overall it is warmer. The leaves restrict the movement of air. In my front yard I had frost this morning and it is an open field /bare garden. In my forest the frost did not reach the ground as it retained more warmth from yesterday than my front yard. Just observational evidence from the real world. Due to the transient nature of plant life in a forest I would say the Carbon cycle is a break even situation but the forest can absorb more CO2 than it produces during the growing cycle. If it was not for emissions from non living sources plant life that depends on CO2 would restrict growth to match available CO2 which would limit food available for animals and reduce animal populations would result. ( reduced biodiversity) (The cuddly polar bears would all die out because of reduced CO2 in the atmosphere).
The lack of knowledge of economics is amazing in his speech. The coal companies would reap greater profits by receiving a handling fund for the taxes imposed on the burning of fossil fuels or would go bankrupt because of lost revenue when people are no longer able to afford the over priced energy. Either way the monies claimed to be received by the government would all need to be spent bailing out the poor people or the companies providing energy and not finding new energy sources. New energy sources can be found by investors if restrictions are withdrawn making it profitable to do business in this country.
This man being President is a symptom of where Americans, for the most part, have had there heads for years now. But by how quickly the Tea Party has rose up I can see America is beginning to put its head in a much better place.
