Obama Has Had The Fewest Hurricanes Of Any President

NOAA keeps hurricane records back to 1850. The average number of US hurricane strikes per presidency is almost eleven. Obama’s presidency has had only three hurricane strikes, matched only by Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Harrison.

Grover Cleveland and FDR both presided over 26 hurricanes, almost nine times as many as Obama.

Chronological List of All Hurricanes

During his state of the Union Address, Obama implied that the overwhelming consensus of science says hurricanes are getting worse. That is patently false.

Obama also tells us that gun crime is getting worse, even though it is declining and at historic lows.

Keeping his promise to heal the Earth.

  2. …But he has made the most of them… (further grounds for impeachment…on top of the treasonous lying to America and all).

  3. philmon says:

You know, the overall concensus was once “the earth is flat” … people need to learn that science has nothing to do with concensus.

How strange… A windbag with the fewest hurricanes…

NOAA is falsifying the record regarding Isaac and Sandy. Neither storm had sustained winds of hurricane threshold at landfall. They are convoluting “gusts” with sustained winds. Those terms define the definition of hurricane based on climate science. Gusts never define a hurricane. Only sustained winds. The definition of sustained winds for a hurricane is well defined at 33 meters per second for one minute measured at the surface. Anyone can check the recorded winds speeds during those storms using NOAAs website. For example Sandy.

Sustained wind speeds for Isaac can be checked in the same way.

And Obama is going “DAMMIT! I cannot show my competence”, while the rest of the nation breaths a sigh of relief.

Steve – Can you normalize the data to correct for term length and/or number of hurricane seasons per President?

What I find appalling is that people believe such patent absurdities…they even argue with you when you point out the contradictions.

True to at least one of his campaign promises.

  10. Andrew says:

This analysis is bogus, as you chose to only look at landfalling storms, considering that the actual number of storms in the Atlantic have been above average throughout the Obama presidency – we’ve just been lucky that a Cat 4 or 5 has not hit us.
