    Wow.

I knew there was some desperation creeping into the warmista ranks, but this?

And that begs the question. Will the seas start boiling off before the level rises 200 meters or after?

You have to admit their desperation for getting headlines is getting pretty sad. Just like the waning days of the Global Cooling scare. And most people ignored those lunatics too.

  2. gofer says:

Who, besides Hansen, has ever made such a lunatic remark? “Researchers say” must be a secret society.

  3. Jorge says:

The only armageddon coming is for the warmistas with all their stupid nonsense. Their desperate claims gives away their desperate position.

  4. Chewer says:

It’s a one-up on possible scenario’s such as the dual-planetary rift situation, the kind that happens as the magnetic properties from our core go through a severe decrease and then flip polarities.
Dual rifting at sea puts a butt-load of moisture in the troposphere, where a dual scenario with both occurring on land, smoke’s it…

  5. Les Johnson says:

I believe that study was from NASA, and that the threshhold for this to occur was 30,000 ppm.

In other words, its extremely unlikely. We are unlikely to get to 1000 ppm, even burning all fossil fuels.

    • Chewer says:

It is called rifting, that contributes large amounts of earth into the atmosphere from some extreme events, called rifting or class twelve volcanoes, if you like!

  6. Traitor In Chief says:

Allllrighty then! All we need to do is capture a rogue star, and this will happen right away….

  7. crosspatch says:

Scientists say that a meteorite could strike you right in the noggin as you read this. Or maybe now. Or now. Or not.

  8. Chewer says:

Smoke & fire and natural occurrences, especially when the earth burps!

  9. stewart pid says:

On the positive side, the scientists noted that the Loch Ness monster would be done like dinner and there would be Nessie burgers for all.

  10. bkivey says:

This is one claim that has some basis in fact. Look for the oceans to boil away in about 4 – 5 billion years.

  11. stewart pid says:

joking Scotsman brought this to mind …. Jim Croce – The Ball of Kerrymuir.

    • Andy Oz says:

That ice could have rolled over their boat with the anchor dragging them underneath the ice floes to a very very cold end. What a bunch of numbskis! ROFL

    • Olaf Koenders says:

      Heh. From the article:

“In seconds we’re all on deck facing down a 100ft x 100ft ice flow..”

Their spelling needs some scientific research as well. Should be “ice floe”.

Too bad they expected the Northwest Passage to be “ice free”. If they keep waking up with ice banging on the boat they won’t get sleep the entire trip.

  14. wulliejohn says:

As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
    So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
    And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

So much for that promise of eternal love.

Global Warming To Boil The Ocean

How is this not the world record for Climate Cult stupidity? Is there anything that comes close? Steve, you should search for those terms in the archives to be sure, but I’ll bet no-one even in the old days was that stupid.

This one gets the Hansen Award.

  16. Andy Oz says:

“And the seas will boil, and the earth will shake
The sky will burn and the mountains fall.
    A golden trumpet will sound.
Behold! The seventh messenger has come
and he is the beast. He has come for the unbelievers.
They will burn in Hell for eternity”

See?! Anyone can make shit up to scare dumb sheeple silly.
The Scots should know better than to publish shyte.

  17. Billy Liar says:

Boiling the seas ought to put the missing positive feedback from water vapor into the atmosphere.

  18. chris y says:

Hansen’s favorite scare tactic, the Venus syndrome, requires the oceans to boil. It is the only way to increase the atmospheric thickness high enough to achieve the Venus syndrome. Ironically, it also dramatically LOWERS sea level.

Since Hansen has recently backed away from the Venus syndrome claim that he made in his GlobalWarming novel, I expect to read about Hansen loudly discrediting this report sometime today…

    Or not.

  21. John B., M.D. says:

http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2013/07/could-climate-change-turn-earth-venus – Dr. Hansen’s favorite planet is Venus. The guy in the article says Earth would get even hotter than Venus. Maybe he should adjust his model.

  22. gofer says:

Could Greenhouse Gases Turn Earth Into Venus? | Mother Jones

“What we’re seeing now is that if you pump the atmosphere full of carbon dioxide, you could make the planet so hot it would never be habitable again,” he says. Taken to its conclusion, he explains, the runaway greenhouse would produce a new atmosphere with global temperatures around 2,420 degrees Fahrenheit.
