PIOMAS shows July 31 Arctic sea ice volume at 7,104 km³, up from 5.965 km³ last year.
That thin rotten decayed ice is growing in the record heat, almost as fast as the Islamic population of Europe.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It is not merely higher when comparing year to year. How can the volume be growing in July? Can someone more skilled than I am check out the day-to-day numbers, and see if the volume actually increases, during the time of year the ice-melt is usually at it’s most rapid?
They actually show a 30% loss of volume during July.

Never Mind. That graphs the anomaly, not the volume.
While researching my update for conditions at Camera 2, (the site of “Lake North Pole” last week,) I noticed temperatures have been below freezing by that camera for over a day and a half, and recently have even been below the freezing point of salt water, bottoming out at minus 3 (C). This sort of weather increases volume, (at least locally,) rather than decreasing it.

Things had better heat up in a hurry, if the media is going to get any more pictures of another “Lake North Pole.”
Also remember that sea ice extent is defined as the percentage of ice that is floating on the surface of the sea verses the percent of the Arctic Ocean surface that is liquid water.
Depending on which way, or from where the Zephyrs are blowing sea ice extent as well as sea ice volume are both moving targets.
True, but it is still fun to try to figure out what the heck is going on up there. When I was a kid, that entire landscape was Terra Incognito, and therefore our modern knowledge is a wonder, where perhaps it is a case of “Ho Hum” for the young.
Are we going to pretend that PIOMAS is anything other that computer generated bullshit?
I have a question for the more experienced Arctic observers.
How come there is a much smaller glacial cap on Ellesmere Island, compared to Greenland? Logically, there would have been a large cap on it back in the ice age and the geography would confirm that. There is no way it all melted away since 1950. And since there is such a small glacial cap, on Ellesmere, with it being mostly north of Greenland, then CO2 cannot possibly be responsible for the melting of its Ice Age cap and thus nor the Arctic. The Canadian Encyclopedia is interesting especially with evidence about people occupying it 4000 years ago as well as the Norse 800 years ago.
