An order issued Monday by the agency bans the targets in forests and grasslands in Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. Violators could face a fine of up to $5,000 and be sent prison for up to six months.
Popular gun range target blamed for forest fires, called potential bomb source | Fox News
Barbecues cause forest fires too. Next up will be six months in jail for a weenie roast or making smores. They already banned fireworks. Pretty soon the only thing the peasantry will be permitted to do is worship Dear Leader.

The creation of laws by unelected bureaucrats is the greatest threat to the long term existence of the US as a free, democratic society. With the explosion of laws issued by the various Federal agencies you can argue our freedom is already largely an illusion. Congress has abdicated a lot of its responsibility since the Constitution specifies Congress, not some alphabet soup agency, should be making laws.
But most people are sheep so will go along.
“But most people are sheep so will go along.”
This attitude is the enemy. I refuse to be beaten by human trash like Jimmy Hansen, and Gavin Schmidt. By myself I have changed the course of mighty rivers, while my enemies have resigned in disgrace.
Where is Jimmy now anyway?
While you race to throw in the towel, I have fought those battles. When the California Public Utility Commission tried to sneak remote control thermostats to allow the State to set the temperature of private homes into new building codes, I pushed that as a story in the local medias. Me. Personally. Stopped it dead in it’s tracks. The PUC spokesman made a public apology for ever bringing it up.
It doesn’t take “most people”. It just takes somebody.
But barbecues don’t contain bomb ingredients used by terrorists.
The ban seems reasonable to me.
Ammonium Nitrate is fertilizer, The Boston bombers used fireworks. You can make lethal explosives out all sorts of common ingredients, including barbecue propane tanks, natural gas, gasoline, etc … etc.
Terrorists everywhere! Ban everything!
Charcoal is a key ingredient in gunpowder.
Only forest service employees can do that. We wouldn’t want all that timber to go to waste building homes.

Big Brother is using a phony “exceptional drought” as an excuse to curtail our freedoms.
A charcoal briquette soaked in LOX makes a loud bang according to the engineering department at Ohio State. Does that mean that the air we breath is no longer free?
