Earlier this week, Jeff Masters explained that global warming is causing rats to take over the earth, and The Washington Post announced that the vermin have already taken over Washington DC.
John Cook has followed up with this by theorizing that rats cause global cooling.

A similar effect occurred in North America after European contact in the 16th century. Ruddiman (2003) suggests reforestation took place as a result of this reduced human population and agricultural activity, allowing more carbon dioxide uptake from the atmosphere to the biosphere, thus having a cooling effect.

This BS has been going around for years! They still think the Cart Pushes the Horse! Cold and hungry people are not able to fight illness as well as warm healthy people. The LIA was a major contributor to the conditions that lead up to the Black Death.

Lack of pet cats causes rats.
In Istanbul, even in high rise apartments, stray cats are encouraged and fed, they make them little dens in storerooms, sometimes even taken to the vet.
But they don’t keep them as pets – they don’t take them into homes and cuddle them.
IMO this is a tradition formed during the Black Death. People who didn’t encourage cats a bit all died, but people who got too close to them also died – cats can catch plague as well.
The people who survived had plenty of cats around them, but they weren’t part of the family.
Obviously the LIA had nothing to do with the Maunder Minimum, and climate sensitivity was 97 deg C per 100 ppm rise in CO2.
Was CO2 over 400 ppm during the medieval warm period? After the rats killed a third of humanity, did CO2 drop to 250 ppm due to reforestation?
America is more forested today than it was 100 years ago. Does this phenomenon still work?
Cook seems to enthusiastically acclaims what he perceives to be the consequences of the death of a third of humanity. I guess that’s why he advocates a repeat performance.
I would argue that Cook probably does think a huge virus would be a good thing. It would explain the NAZI uniform Photoshop job. And it would explain the “humans are destroying the world and only the super-hero Cook can save us” delusion he constantly has. (But that is a common trait with greens as well.)
Delusions of grandeur in the end. I don’t know, but the other alternative is that Cook sold out and is being financed by big oil like his buddy Nucci. I wouldn’t put any kind of behavior out of the range of these people though if I was being honest.
OT but I thought this might be of interest to Coloradoans if it is factual. Something very much like this happens in Australia with federal government cars. They are not registered to the state they are driving in, so are immune from the automated traffic systems, but not the cops.
