Dangerous Assault Rifle

Last year, Remington settled for $73 million with Sandy Hook families.

“The settlement comes over seven years after the families sued the maker of the Bushmaster XM15-E2S semiautomatic rifle that was used in the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.”

On the day of the shooting, law enforcement said the shooting was done with handguns, and the rifle was left in the trunk of the car in the parking lot.

“The two pistols were found inside the school and a .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle was found in the back of his mother’s car in the parking lot.”

“What happened?”

AP News wonders why green Germany’s economy is in such bad shape, and blames high energy prices due to the war in Ukraine.

“Germany risks “deindustrialization” as high energy costs and government inaction on other chronic problems threaten to send new factories and high-paying jobs elsewhere, said Christian Kullmann, CEO of major German chemical company Evonik Industries AG.”

Scientists Alarmed

“The sea-ice surrounding Antarctica is well below any previous recorded winter level, satellite data shows, a worrying new benchmark for a region that once seemed resistant to global warming. “It’s so far outside anything we’ve seen, it’s almost mind-blowing,” says Walter Meier, who monitors sea-ice with the National Snow and Ice Data Center.”

Sooner Than The Boston Globe Expected

“Regular bouts of deadly heat are coming sooner than expected
Study finds hundreds of millions live in places that will regularly experience heat and humidity so high that humans can’t survive without cooling”

“With a sweltering heat wave in Massachusetts not far behind us, new research is finding that periods of heat and humidity so great that humans cannot survive without sources of cooling are likely coming much sooner than previously believed”

Study: Climate change bringing deadly heat sooner than expected

Massachusetts USHCN stations have recorded temperatures over 95F (35C) 1,438  times since 1893.  The last one occurred on July 25, 2022.
