This week in 1958, a submarine surfaced at the North Pole, and the New York Times wrote:

We did see a group of people enjoying themselves on Harriet Hageman’s porch this evening. Looks like they are done campaigning against Virginia Democrat Liz Cheney.
A small area of Colorado along I-25 near Longmont has gas selling for less than $3.00/gallon. We drove past it last night, but already had a tank full of $4.00 Denver gas.
