1974 – Same story, different crisis
when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.
And in another twenty to thirty years or so, Time will be able to recycle their old story about a pending ice age, just about the time temps start to climb again.
Then again, if the sun keeps up its limp showing of late, they may find themselves writing new copy as the new little ice age keeps setting new records. Let’s just hope that all it’ll be is a little one.

Turner has also devoted his assets to environmental causes. He also created the environmental-themed animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
As a philanthropist, he is known for his $1 billion gift to support UN causes, which created the United Nations Foundation, a public charity to broaden support for the UN. Turner serves as Chairman of the United Nations Foundation board of directors.[3]
