BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The 2010 Churchill polar bear season promises to be a banner year for bear watchers, says Natural Habitat Adventures polar bear expert Steve Selden, editor of churchillpolarbears.org, a polar bear news and conservation website published as a joint venture between Natural Habitat Adventures and World Wildlife Fund. “Churchill will welcome thousands of travelers over the next seven weeks,” writes Selden, referring to the October and November Churchill, Manitoba, polar bear tour season, which coincides with the bears’ annual migration to await the formation of sea ice for winter hunting on Hudson Bay. In a recent blog post, Selden predicts “prodigious numbers of bears” this year based on unusually high summer sightings.

The web site is a sales pitch site for his business. A business that is causing more environmental harm while claiming to be concerned. They are currently that the ice came at its average time and that leads to fewer tourists for them to fleece.
Mike,
I thought environmental tourism was the Green’s solution to inhabitants of these remote and wild places, a solution to wean the inhabitants off the traditional hunting and “exploitation”. But I guess there is no appeasing the Green’s so they just might just as well go back to shooting the bears.

But
“Cancun climate change summit: climate change killing polar bears”
Hmm, looks like the CAGW religion has invented its own bear watching version of the hajj.
Could be a win-win for climate change: starving bears no longer starving, and the carbon footprint of the believers is, let us say, significantly reduced.
