The courts should immediately issue a restraining order against ENSO, solar cycles, Malinkovitch cycles, volcanoes, asteroids, forest fires, other oceanic cycles, and butterflies flapping their wings.

  1. Mike Davis says:

A restraining order against the oblique orbit we now have as well as a restraining order against global tilt which causes seasons!
Those butterflies are the most dangerous!
There should also be a restraining order issued against climatologists who falsely run around crying the sky is falling such as Big Jim!

  2. Jim Hansen: I think that scientists can be objective about the implications of science for policy.

He may be the most biased scientists I have ever seen. Why would I believe his opinion about what he thinks he is capable of?

  3. “psychiatric disorder in which the patient experiences delusions of great power and importance”

  5. Hansen Wants to “Stabilise the climate”

    It’s Hansen that needs stabilizing.

  6. Lazarus says:

Yet another misleading title, and your ‘quote’ does not even appear anywhere in the linked article. the only use of the word ‘Stabilise’ is in regard to atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases and that wasn’t even in any quote by Hansen.

  7. Steve Koch says:

Given that the climate is a chaotic system (i.e. small input changes can cause unpredictable, large changes in climate), stabilizing it is way beyond our current capabilities. Having said that, doing some research on geoengineering (especially to protect against ice ages) seems like a prudent thing to do.
