Real Climate Explains That It Isn’t Cold In Europe
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
Surrealclimate strikes again! This is the same Stefan Who released a distorted report just before Dopenhagen last year that was not supported by any other research.
The weather computer models are continuing to show extremely cold weather for most of Europe next week. This time southern Europe (Italy, Greece, etc.) is going to get very cold and snowy per Steve’s snowfall map. Maybe not a one in a thousand year event, but another week of extreme weather after these last two weeks is quite remarkable.
Ah yes, Stefan Rahmstorf…..
http://rankexploits.com/musings/2009/source-of-fishy-odor-confirmed-rahmstorf-did-change-smoothing/
Isn’t it comical for RC to cherry pick Russia’s summer heat wave and to infer (if not implicitly claim) it is evidence for AGW, but cold events that include multiple continents are meaningless.
What a motley crew.
It was only a small portion of Russia that was hot this summer.
But hot is climate and cold is weather, unless they make cold = due to hot LOL
AGW people are essentially telling us with their usual arrogance “heads I win, tails you lose”.
The media over-hyping the weather? Surely not. I’m shocked.
Good for Real Climate for calling them out on this, and I trust that they will do the sane thing when warm events are similarly over-blown…..
If not, people might come to the conclusion that they are complete and utter hypocrites – people are funny like that.
Tony D is a comedian (well according to the President of the International Dev Society or some such experts on comedy – YOU VILL LAUGH)
A I P:
Surrealclimate has already shown their stripes on this issue. It was there I learned that cooling is consistent with their models and whatever the weather does is evidence of global warming. it was there I learned that warming is climate and cooling is just less warming but still evidence the globe is continuing to warm.
Anyway, the coldest winter for 1000 years is a bit of overkill, since by then you’d be heading back into the MWP. No, I’d be impressed with breaking record temps going back to 1659. It would be hard to blame that on natural variation. The coldest December CET is -0.8 ºC and it currently stands at -1.7 ºC. We’ve got a few warmish days on the cards but then it’s due to turn cold again. Hmmm, we shall see.
And no hint of a broken Gulf Stream.
Actually, what RC “explained” was that, contrary to media reports, no one predicted the coldest winter in 1000 years. The post is about how the media screwed up what a scientist said. It’s not about weather, climate, or predictions. The only mentions of the current weather in Europe are a photo caption (“Winter has Europe in its grip”) and this:
If that’s not a direct contradiction of the page title, I don’t know what would be.
It would be fascinating to see someone try to justify this page’s title with anything from the RC post. Just point out where RC “explains that it isn’t cold in Europe.”
Yes, I know, Steve, I’m an idiot. Saved you the trouble.
It would be interesting that find out why some people are incapable of understanding sarcasm, logic or objectivity.
Oh, right, it was just sarcasm. Again. The same excuse you use every time someone points out that one of your little headlines is just plain false.
Simply making stuff up, claiming that someone said something he didn’t say, is not sarcasm. It’s just lying.
Almost all of my headlines are sarcastic. Why don’t you comment on incompetence at The Met Office and NASA? Otherwise people might think you are an idiot.
You really need to spend some more time studying sarcasm. You’re very, very bad at it. In fact, you don’t seem to know what it is. This headline isn’t remotely sarcastic. It’s just a sad little lie. You want people to think that RC said it isn’t cold in Europe, so you make up a fake headline and call it “sarcasm” if anyone points out that it’s nothing but a lie.
You’re only fooling your little band of followers, you know.
Chris,
You are right. England is having a mild winter and it is the hottest year ever. You have no interest in the truth Chris and you aren’t fooling anyone except yourself.
Well, it was a nice week……till this thread.
You are right. England is having a mild winter and it is the hottest year ever.
Good God, you are unbelievable. In every sense the word is used.
Or is this more “sarcasm”?
Are you turning religious?
You tell us you are interested in the truth. Let’s hear your critique of The Met Office.
There’s not a word about the Met Office in the RC post, your post, or any of my comments, which makes this Goddard tactic #13(b):
“When someone points out that I’ve written another lie, ignore it and insist that he defend some completely irrelevant topic.”
I’ve seen this show before.
I often suspect that you are laughing out loud when you write this stuff.
So you are saying that Real Climate predicted the cold winter.
RealClimate are professional climate scientists who can tell us the climate in 100 years. Surely they must have seen this cold winter coming three weeks ago?
On Fri, Dec 10, 2010 at 1:17 PM, Steve Goddard wrote:
> So you are saying that Real Climate predicted the cold winter. > >
You crack me up, Steve. This is just too funny for words.
Right. So the professional climate scientists at RealClimate have been on top of this cold winter thing the last few years. They saw it coming all along and predicted it. Especially this year, the hottest year ever.
I’m waiting for the RealClimate/MetOffice/GISS article where they say “We have no clue what is going on. We have mispredicted the climate over and over again and have to fudge our numbers to keep any semblance of our belief system alive.”
And I’m waiting for you to admit that RC didn’t say anything even remotely similar to what you claim in your title.
Of course, I already know that you never will.
Chris, if you don’t see the many undertones of intellectual dishonesty in the realclimate post, then you are truly clueless. WTFC if it is the coldest winter in a thousand years or just four hundred years? Are you completely daft? They have mispredicted over and over again and look for any way to distract from their failures.
The point of the RC post, which is completely clear, and which is completely NOT what you wrote here, is that nobody made the predicted the coldest winter in a thousand years, as the media are saying. It’s a post about media and how myths metastasize. It is not a post about climate prediction or weather, as you try to pretend it is.
The point of the RC post was to cover up their abysmal failures as climate modelers.
Sure, Steve. Whatever you say.
Best to keep ones mouth shut and thought the fool than to open it and remove all doubt. Worst is to waste time claiming it to be true.
So, where did RC explain that it isn’t cold in Europe? Or are you going to run with the “It’s just sarcasm” excuse too?
ChrisD
You are warped. Please seek help since it is clear you cannot help yourself.
Go away Chris – we all know you are an idiot.
So this means that the Little Ice Age did exist? 😉
chrisd must have got have gotten his latest check from the center for american progress.
glad to be back out from behind the counter at mickey d’s?
Sooooo predictable…go for the ad homs so you don’t have to admit that the post is bullshit.
Not one of you is going to admit that RC didn’t say anything even remotely like this, are you? Nooo, it’s just “sarcasm.”
Thanks for the laugh.
You are right. They have been forecasting cold winters for years now.
Ah ha, sarcasm right?
And how about that barbeque summers?
you offer nothing of substance to discuss
yet beg for the ad hominem responses
you have however, succesfully hijacked yet another thread
i suggest, yet again, that in the future
ignore chrisd!
You’re right Peter

you offer nothing of substance to discuss
Apparently you think pointing out that the post is a blatant lie is “nothing of substance.” But that reflects poorly on you, not on me.
ignore chrisd!
Should be easy, you guys are very good at ignoring stuff, such as your host making stuff up and trying to pass it off as “sarcasm.”
i guess i can’t follow my own advice…
Hey chrisd, can i get a coke with that?
Do You Want That Supersized?
When is Real Climate closing down?
It exists to push the faked science of global warming. It will cease to exist when James Hansen and Gavin Schmidt are removed from NASA. Pray for that day.

your host
Your Host? So are you a ingrate? Buttinsky? Party Crasher? Or just too stupid to realize he is YOUR HOST as well?
Chris D,
A consensus of posters agree the article had a sarcastic title. The science is settled as we have a consensus. Please continue to post your rants and keep your blood pressure high as it amuses me.
Keep up the good work Steve!
You know the post had its’ desired effect based on the hissy fit reaction.
OK, sarcasm consists of making up stuff that people didn’t say. That’s much, much easier than what I realized. Thanks.
Believe whatever you like, you are good at that.
ChrisD. I guess this represents the hottest year ever….

The irony: As negotiators from nearly 200 countries met in Cancun to strategize ways to keep the planet from getting hotter, the temperature in the seaside Mexican city plunged to a 100-year record low of 54° F.
http://theweek.com/article/index/210181/irony-alert-the-unusually-chilly-global-warming-summit
Point. Missed. Whoosh.
I quite agree Chris – this is the hottest year ever.
Why don’t you suggest to your friends at realclimate do a post explaining why they are trying to cover up their failure to predict the cold winters of recent years? Instead of addressing anything important, they post distractional bullshit. And you bite hook, line and sinker.
Point. Missed. Yet again.
My comment has NOTHING to do with weather. It has to do with lies.
So you think your climate modeler friends did predict the cold winter, and they are being honest?
Real Climate Lies!!!!!!!
So you think your climate modeler friends did predict the cold winter, and they are being honest?
So you think you can wiggle out by trying–AGAIN–to claim that someone, in this case me, said something that he never said? Cute. But dishonest.
My comments on this post are all about your lying, non-sarcastic headline. Period. Not about weather. Not about climate. Not about predictions. Just about lying.
Of course it’s not cold, when it hits the same level as Uranus (-244C), then they’ll admit it’s a bit cold
Ah how cute Chrissy Hissy went over to RC and posted a crying whine of a post on you Steve. You better watch out now Chrissy Hissy is getting his friends! LMAO.
http://www.realclimate.org/?comments_popup=5498
Oh, you’ve confused “whining” with “laughing”.
You really are pathetic.
OK Chrissy Hissy, whatever you say. Most sane people do not spend their energy attacking people they disagree with, in their house, everyday, and laugh, unless it is a laugh of mental breakdown. Hey you might be laughing!
chrisd
i am still waiting for my coke
So, lying is not pathetic, but pointing out that someone is lying is pathetic. OK.
We are amused.
You are an idiot Chris. Do you watch a satirical movie and expect it to be literal?
No, I watch a satirical movie and expect it to be satirical. You’re confusing satire with lying again. They’re not synonyms.
Chris, I am about to put you on spam. Are you having another PMS episode?
Steven:
It is not SATIRE when you make fun of a religious belief that is offended by satire. The Church of Climatology has no real science to support their beliefs so they have to claim that everyone is picking on them unfairly.
ChrisD:
If everyone is out to get you! You are not suffering from PARANOIA!
Chris, I am about to put you on spam. Are you having another PMS episode?
Knock yerself out. I’ve had enough laughs for the day.
Don’t go away mad. Just go away.
RealClimate is pathetic. After encouraging the mainstream media this summer to believe the bad weather in Russia and Pakistan had AGW fingerprints all over it, they want to make sure the same media doesn’t pick up a toss off from a Polish tabloid. They will also be doing their damnedest to explain away the record cold temps that Europe is experiencing-again-this winter. Wait a second…
Hey, Steve, here is a ball of yarn to play with…
http://www.reportingclimatescience.com/news-stories/article/global-warming-shares-blame-for-europes-cold-weather-says-climate-scientist.html
It’s the RC approved climate news site mentioned in their post. Hmm. I’ve not heard of them, but if RC approves, something is fishy. The article is a doozy, blaming frigid Europe on low sea ice and warmer oceans!!!!
Here is your next sarcastic headline: “Co2 makes NAO go negative.”
I can’t believe people would get so upset about a ludicrous statement made or not made by an alleged Polish scientist. Steve obviously posted it with a bit of humor intended, not as a serious scientific declaration. Get a life!
ChrisD says:

Point. Missed. Yet again.
My comment has NOTHING to do with weather. It has to do with lies.
yours?
Point one out.
It appears that though political propaganda is lying you feel it is not lying. So you will not agree that you are lying. You have the faked science at RealClimate to use and say you are telling the truth. Then you dance with your sniping remarks and feel you are victorious.
You make your own reality and truth. Your world is a game played by your rules. No one wins in your world unless they follow your rules. You want this game? It is yours. But many others will not want it. You feel you win. But many readers will not agree.
Point to almost any of your comments.
No. Point to a specific lie. Something that is demonstrably and factually untrue.
Moron.
I can hardly think of a greater honor than being called a moron by Steve Goddard. Thank you.
You are right Chris, RealClimate nailed the record cold/snow predictions years ago. They have been right on top of it all along.
I found the theme song for those like Chris and Tony still living in Fantasy Land:
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2471879/mickey_mouse_club_opening_theme_long_version_in_color/
ChrisD,
You presumably think that there are people who somehow stumble across Steve’s blog, read only the headlines, and, as a consequence, can, for example, referring specificaly to this case, go away believing that something (maybe they know it is a blog, maybe they don’t) called Real Climate “explains that it isn’t cold in Europe”. I would be very interested if you could put a figure on the number of people that you think this might have happened to.
Most visitors to Steve’s blog, of course, read not only the headlines but also the posts that they refer to. They also know (and it is very strange that apparently you have never realized this) that 99% (at the very least) of his blog is sarcasm against CAGW and CAGWists. Sometimes the sarcasm can be a little bit on the clumsy side, as, I would agree, in the headline of this post, but I knew right away on reading it that sarcasm is what it was and not an objective reporting of reality. On reading the post itself, the point of the title gradually became clear to me (although, as I have said, I never believed it to be literally true).
Reading your comments, it seems to me that, actually, you simply do not understand sarcasm. That is your problem, not Steve’s, or ours. Nobody invited you to join this club. If you aren’t happy in it, why don’t you leave? Join another one or start one of your own where you get to make all the rules.
Sorry, but just making stuff up isn’t sarcasm. That’s just Steve’s boilerplate excuse whenever anyone–not just me–points out that he’s making stuff up again.
There’s nothing sarcastic about saying that RC said something it didn’t say, or even come close to saying . It’s just completely lame. It’s what you do when you can’t actually make the point you’re trying to make.
I would be very interested if you could put a figure on the number of people that you think this might have happened to.
And I would be very interested if you could put a figure on the number of people that you think this didn’t happen to.
But read the first half dozen or so posts here, the ones before mine, and tell me that there’s even a hint that any of those people (with the exception of “Anything is possible”, who almost got it) actually read the RC post and knew that it was really about the media and not the weather.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sarcasm
“Cultural Dictionary
sarcasm definition
A form of irony in which apparent praise conceals another, scornful meaning. For example, a sarcastic remark directed at a person who consistently arrives fifteen minutes late for appointments might be, “Oh, you’ve arrived exactly on time!””
ie, a lie, made up, the opposite of the truth.
You synopsis at the end doesn’t match the definition that preceded it. Sarcasm isn’t just a lie. There’s more to it than that.
Note that, in the example, the sarcasm was directly related to the topic. The guy was late, and the sarcastic remark had to do with not being late.
But the headline here has nothing at all to do with what the RC post was about. It’s completely unrelated to the topic of the post, which was media, not weather. The headline could have been “Real Climate explains that Santa Claus doesn’t wear a red suit,” and it would have been just as accurate, and just as “sarcastic” (which is to say, not at all).
Steve thinks he can write whatever he wants and then just pawn it off as sarcasm. And some of his headlines are clearly sarcastic. This one, ain’t.
I didn’t read the RC post either, and I didn’t have to to know that Steve was being sarcastic (I assumed it from the start because that is how I know Steve writes his blog and because the claim in the title seemed rather unlikely to be true in reality). I repeat: it is obvious to me that you have some cultural or psychological cognitive deficiency that will not allow you to recognize and correctly interpret a sarcastic statement when it is made. As I rather suspect that your case is hopeless, I suggest that this is obviously never going to be the blog for you (the only way that Steve could make it so would be by not being Steve). So, please go away and stop boring the rest of us with your hysterical misinterpretations of what the rest of us understand perfectly well.
Oh, I recognize a sarcastic statement. I also recognize when something is not a sarcastic statement. Since the RC post had nothing to do with weather, a headline about weather isn’t sarcastic, it’s just lame. And irrelevant.
Here’s an equally “sarcastic” headline:
“Real Climate post explains that Ford makes ugly cars”
Steve can use that next time, along with a link to an RC post about Arctic ice or something. It would make just as much sense as this one does.
How about this for sarcasm:
Real Climate discusses the real climate.
Or:
AGW zealots have a real sense of humour.
Making Stuff up is a prerequisite to become a Climatologist.
Making fun of the stuff that Climatologists make up makes a person a climate sceptic and a Climate Realist!

ZDF German Television attacks Climate Skeptics
http://notrickszone.com/2010/12/09/zdf-german-television-attacks-climate-skeptics/
Lowest temperature in Poland during the previous cold attack -33 degrees Celsius
According to NASA EARTH OBSERVATORY December 2.
“Schools and airports have been closed on several occasions, and roads were clogged with traffic and accidents on the islands and across Europe. Dozens of deaths have been reported from exposure to the cold and from accidents. Temperatures have been 5 to 10 degrees Celsius below average, and dropped as low as -33 C in Poland. More snow and ice is predicted for this weekend in Ireland”.
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/view.php?id=47528
Events continue at december 8
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/view.php?id=47626
And at that date the winter still had to begin.
Now Joe Bastardi has come out with a severe winter warning for Europe from December 17th telling us to get prepared for a harsh period that could well extend for a period of three weeks. His message: stock up on fuel and supplies.
Rhamstorf is right of course this is a hot, hot, hot winter.
You can’t take the reorts from a Polish Scientist, NASA or Joe Bastardi serious.
It’s all media hype.
And here is another message that underlines the fact that Rahmstorf is on the winning side of any debate about this hot, hot, hot, winter.
From Joe Bastardi (again) THURSDAY EVENING
FROM GAVIN PARTRIDGE AGAIN… MORE CHILLING FACTS TO WARM YOUR HEARTS
Gavin has emailed me a correction on the CET temperatures… Apparently the records only exist into the 1700s for the month, so we can’t be sure it’s the coldest week since the 1600s.
Here is what he said…
It’s been pointed out to me that one of the facts I have given you is wrong.
When I said it’s been the second 1st-8th December on CET record, with records starting in 1659, that was wrong. Whilst monthly CET records do indeed begin in 1659, the daily data only begins in 1772.”
So it appears that we can only confirm this was the coldest since 1772. I am sure that will warm the cockles of all your hearts.
Still a pretty long time since this kind of cold… we can agree on that, eh? Hmmm… I wonder what the proxy tree rings say about all this.
Ciao for now. ***
http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/bastardi-europe-blog.asp?partner=accuweather
When century old temperature cold records are broken from Central Europe to Scandinavia, from the US to Cancún this should be a clear message for any proponent of the AGW theory. This clear message adds up to only three words:
THEY ARE WRONG!
But AGW proponents, like Rahmstorf are no scientists but hard core ideologues.
That’s why any discussion is futile and their hollow alarmism and their arrogant statements will continue until they die.
People like Rahmstorf and his friends make money to screw humanity and the worst part is that they really enjoy their work.
We have seen several periods in our history that saw a similar rise of propaganda based doctrines with the same kind of ideologues pushing the buttons, in some cases with devastating effects for millions of people.
That’s why we will take any appropriate measure necessary to oppose the AGW proponents and dismantle their treasonous schemes.
Even if it means we have to take on the entire political establishment, the EU and the UN if we have to.
The line is drawn with the ClimateGate data releases and people like Rahmstorf will be reduced to a shameful chapter in our history books that will be closed, shelved and gathering dust very soon.
ROFLMAO!
ChrisD strikes out again:
“Real Climate Explains That It Isn’t Cold In Europe”
It is amusing that RC people seem to overlook the regular MET office failures in winter forecasting over the last few years. The one where a large region of Europe are hammered with cold and snow. But they forecast much warmer than it happens.
But have orgasims over a hot spot in Russia.
I think you need to rethink your responses to Steve’s subtil sarcasims.
I think you need to rethink your responses to Steve’s subtil sarcasims
And I think you need to read the RC post. It’s not even about weather. It’s not about climate, either. It has nothing to do with hot spots in Russia or the Met Office or their failures or who’s getting hammered with cold and snow or whether it’s hot or cold in Europe. It’s about the media. That’s why Steve’s alleged “sarcasm” is bogus. His headline has absolutely nothing to do with what’s actually in the RC post.
And there’s nothing in the least “subtil” about what Steve does. It’s completely transparent.
It is about distracting from the fact that it is the coldest winter in 400 years while they are crowing about the hottest year ever. If you had an ounce of integrity you might be able to comprehend it.
LOL,
I read it too and Steve’s sarcasm fits just fine.
It is your strident inability to understand it,is the problem.
Chrissy Hissy you are a sane and rational person.
The laughter exploded from my face at “sane”. Just so you can figure out the sarcasm, very funny sarcasm.
Let us know what your therapist’s thoughts are on all this after your session on Monday.
If you had an ounce of integrity ….
The irony, it burns. I wish I could bring myself to post inane stuff like “ROFLMAO” so I could post “ROFLMAO.” Seriously. This, from you, is a howler. This is Bernie Madoff saying, “If you had an ounce of respect for your clients’ money….”
Excuse me while I try to laugh myself to sleep.
Chris, send us over the RealClimate post where they have an honest discussion of their failure to predict the cold. Since you obviously are such a stickler for precise accuracy.
Or maybe you are just completely FOS?
Is Real Climate not media?
Please make some minimal attempt to understand the point. Thank you.
Please make some minimal attempt to understand that your chums at realclimate failed to forecast the cold.
steven, all you have to do to appease chrisd is change the headline to match the body:
Realclimate Run by Dishonest Hacks
Sure, if you can’t find anything that’s actually wrong in the RC post, just make up headlines that have nothing to do with the post itself.
A very nice demonstration of the fundamental weakness of your position, really.
The Real Climate crew keeps saying that weather is not climate, but come some normal flood in India and Pakistan or a warm spot that happens all the time, for some reason the CO2 has put a magnificent glass on that part of the world and warmed it up and weather is not climate anymore it’s global warming killing us all.
Then we have cold temperatures over most of the globe, and the same fools start saying this is weather. The sun shines at almost a constant rate all the time, so how does CO2 not work at concentrations not seen for whatever millions of years. The fact is there were times on earth when CO2 was 4200ppm and it was cooler then it was today.
The AGW hoax needs to be closed down, before they produce the same mistakes as the Eugenics movement of the 1930s
http://www.ushmm.org/museum/exhibit/online/deadlymedicine/
Funny how America bags the Eugenics like it was some sort of Nazi Germany thing. Thing is all the scientists were pretty much British and America.
Charles Davenport, a scientist from the United States, stands out as history’s leading eugenicist. He took eugenics from a scientific idea to a worldwide movement implemented in many countries. Davenport obtained funding to establish the Biological Experiment Station at Cold Spring Harbor in 1904 and the Eugenics Records Office in 1910, which provided the scientific basis for later Eugenic policies. He became the first President of the International Federation of Eugenics Organizations IFEO in 1925, an organization he was instrumental in building. However, Davenport’s racist views were not
supported by all geneticists at Cold Spring Harbor.
In 1932 Davenport welcomed Ernst Rüdin, a prominent Swiss eugenicist and race scientist, as his successor in the position of President of the IFEO. Rüdin worked closely with Alfred Ploetz, his brother-in-law and co-founder with him of the German Society for the Racial Hygiene. Other prominent figures in the Eugenics included Harry Laughlin United States, Havelock Ellis United Kingdom, Irving Fischer United States, Eugen Fischer Germany, Madison Grant United States, Lucien Howe United States, and Margaret Sanger United States, founder of Planned Parenthood.
IPCC sounds like IFEO doesn’t it!!!
The previous head of the IPCC, I mean IFEO
Wow another American, amazing how America leads the way in Pseudoscience. We just need Germany to perfect it again?
Charles Benedict Davenport June 1, 1866–February 18, 1944 was a prominent American eugenicist and biologist. He was one of the leaders of the American eugenics movement, which was directly involved in the sterilization of around 60,000 “unfit” Americans and strongly influenced the Holocaust in Europe.

Steven…. what kind of outrageous lie is this?
“Extreme Christmas Heat in Europe”
I hope Chris gives you a good spanking for this one too.
Chris’s shrill yet profoundly dense defense of the RC post makes me wonder reminds me of the other RC (Roman Catholic) attitude in the Inquisition. Or is it that scene in Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’ when all the women in beards wanted to stone the guy who said ‘Jehovah’?
Ooops. Delete “makes me wonder”… although it does.
shrill yet profoundly dense defense of the RC post
Great material! The only teensy problem with it is that I haven’t “defended” the RC post at all. “Profoundly dense” seems an odd way to describe something that doesn’t exist, in my view.
If you actually bother to read the comments, you’ll find that I haven’t really said anything about the RC post that amounts to more than “It’s about the media, not weather.” That’s not a “defense,” it’s just a statement of fact.
Well, Chris, it comes across as defensive to me. Steven’s headline was sarcastic, and funny, but you chose to take it literally and the rest is recorded history. Your reaction does remind me of that Monty Python scene – but I am not suggesting that you actually are a woman with a beard.
Al, you have to realize that it’s just Chris up to his usually trolling attempt to derail threads. The fact that he can’t understand sarcasim and the fact that every other poster on this thread has disagreed with him about what is and isn’t saracasm doesn’t phase him one bit, in fact just the opposite it encourages him to continue to derail the thread by “defending” his stance re:sarcasm and slurs against Steve. In otherwords it just feeds the troll.
Chris D said, “It’s a post about media and how myths metastasize.”
Myths like the methane time bomb that Science ran with in March or that somehow 350ppm is some kind of magic bullet for climate stability? Anyway I was wondering if the hockey team had posted these high resolution images of the difference between Steig et al and O’Donnell etal with comments yet? http://c3headlines.typepad.com/.a/6a010536b58035970c0148c6954f23970c-pi
I was also wondering if you had any idea if anyone on the hockey team was looking forward to providing testimony under oath to Congress next year?
Maybe Europe’s current weather can be partly attributed to volcanic eruptions.
Volcanoes may have some effect in localised heavy rainfall or snowfall when fine dust and aerosols form the seeds around which water condenses. The height of ash plumes and the direction and strength of winds at the time of volcanic eruptions may be more important to this effect than the actual size or explosive power of the eruptions.
Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland started erupting in December 2009 and discharged 140 million cubic metres of material. Not a huge amount, but as the jet stream passes above the volcano the ejected dust was distributed widely.
In Ecuador, Tungurahua has erupted several times since June 2009. In May 2010 the eruption plume reached a height of 10 kilometres above the crater.
Several Indonesian volcanoes have erupted this year. The largest one, Merapi, ejected 55 million cubic metres of material between 25 October and 5 November and ash plumes reached heights above 15 kilometres on at least two occasions.
Vulcanologists say that overall volcanic activity is not increasing. But the effects of volcanoes on the weather depend on many variables, including sunspot activity, so are not easy to predict. Anyone interested in climate engineering is probably monitoring volcanic eruptions and ashfall patterns.
However, changes attributable to volcanic eruptions are temporary and more aptly called “weather” than “climate change”.
Wow dozens of comments where Chrissy Hissy says it is not cold in Europe.
ChrisD, you’re back. It hasn’t been the same without you to kick around.
……that was sarcasm. if you didn’t know
It’s quite clear that the RC post is about the invention of a story by distorting the context of what a scientist said, then how this errant meme spread on the internet.
That you lot think it’s denying the atypically cold weather in Europe speaks volumes for your tenuous contact with reality.
Oh cool another sarcasm challenged commentor!
Christian:
RC fabricated the entire issue to begin with because the researchers should have used more care with their Wild A## Theories during interviews.
We are still discussing Phil Jones answer to a question about the statistical significance of no warming! YES, but still means yes. Hansen claiming that scenario A, which was called Business as usual, was not what he meant during his hearing before Congress when he claimed to most likely future without drastic measures would be A.
There is no such thing as a clear post at Surrealclimate unless you are also on the same hallucinogens they are taking.
WOW MAN PASS the Roach!!! and a couple of those buttons, I want to see what you see!

No. Point to a specific lie. Something that is demonstrably and factually untrue.

Knock yerself out. I’ve had enough laughs for the day.
Took only one attempt.
Oh, puhleeze.
Please yourself. You asked, I delivered. Go ahead and try to spin (lie) your way out of that one.
