Gore mentor Paul Ehrlich in 1968 :
“If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000.”
Ehrlich forecasted that 65 million Americans would die of starvation between 1980 and 1989, and by 1999 the U.S. population would have declined to 22.6 million.
He was correct in one sense I guess. Aren’t they calling the old dart Englistan or Great Brittistan or some such?
You wonder about the mentality of people that give/gave Ehrlich any credence whatsoever. He was consistently wrong. When when his statements were only predictions, his claims were so fantastic that it went beyond the pale to lend him any legitimacy.
This is typical liberal humanistic thought.
It’s hard to know where to start.
The world running out of gold? Why – it does not disappear into thin air.
But I like :-
“In 1974 the U.S. Geological Survey advised us that the U.S. had only a 10-year supply of natural gas. The fact of the matter, according to the American Gas Association, there’s a 1,000 to 2,500 year supply. “
That may be an underestimate depending on how many beans are consumed!
Paul Ehrlich lost a 10 year bet with Julian Simon:
