“Snow is consistent with global warming, say scientists”

Everything is consistent with global warming, including changing the past – whenever necessary.

“Even though this is quite a cold winter by recent standards it is still perfectly consistent with predictions for global warming,” said Dr Myles Allen, head of the Climate Dynamics group at Department of Physics, University of Oxford.
If it wasn’t for global warming this cold snap would happen much more regularly. What is interesting is that we are now surprised by this kind of weather. I doubt we would have been in the 1950s because it was much more common.

CET shows this as the coldest on record, which means that it was never normal and it has never happened before. And of course it isn’t what they predicted. This is what they predicted ten years ago :

According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.

Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.

And this is what they predicted last month :

This is how global warming works: wait and see what happens and then say that’s what global warming predicted.

And besides, I keep saying, predictions made by global warming scientists coming to pass or not coming to pass does not apply to modern day global warming. Global warming is happening. Man is causing it. ;O)

    Do not worry Steve,

I am sure Tony or ChrisD will think you are being dishonest or deceptive.

What I find absurd is that the predictions they make are wrong again and again and again. But they still blame it on global warming anyway.

Since rational people know that it takes a lot of cold air to overcome a region that rarely get cold enough for sustained snow.

    • Tony or ChrisD will think you are being dishonest or deceptive.

I just love it that Tony Duncan went on and on that, from what he reads at this blog, he concludes, sarcastically, soon the story of corruption among global warming scientists will break and justify everything seen at this blog. He must have missed ClimateGate—already happened Tony.

Holy frijole, what’s it take to be the head of an Oxford physics department nowdays?

Since 1788? Wow! Five years after Laki went off? Now I really don’t want a big volcanic eruption for the next decade, SC24 is already looking chilly enough thank you.

My post didn’t show up under the original post like I intended (or thought) it
      should…

‘We’ve had three weeks of relatively cold weather, and that doesn’t change anything. ‘This winter is just a little cooler than average, and I still think that snow will become an increasingly rare event.’

We now have enough information and examples to keep any scientific debate or discussion with any AGWer very very short. All we have to ask is: “what kind ofclimate or otherwise observational event has to happen for AGW, and especially catastrophic AGW to be disproven?“.

Silence will thereafter be loudly heard, and the debate quickly brought to its natural conclusion.

  7. Stew Green says:

Just for a laugh I searched for graphs showing the average annual temperature for the last10 years (this is of course a bit meaningless), but I couldn’t find any. Taking a wild guess I would say if they showed a warming trend they would show up all over the place. The office of National Stats had a AGW hyping page, but strangely it hasn’t been updated since 2005

  8. Stew Green says:

Oh I forgot to mention that graph uses the Central England temperature CET record, which is important cos that is one of the ones with the longest regularly taken historical data.. goes backs 100+ years
