Going Green
The Northeast Blizzard: One More Sign of Global Warming
The loss of Arctic sea ice helps accelerate the warming of the atmosphere in the far north, thanks to what’s known as the albedo effect. White ice reflects sunlight into space, cooling the air, but when ice melts and is replaced with dark ocean water, the effect is reversed and more of the sun’s heat is absorbed.
The Arctic is completely covered with ice and snow, and it doesn’t get any sunlight this time of year.
As the Arctic air warms, it raises the altitude of discrete areas of high pressure, which can then alter wind patterns. This, in turn, can weaken the jet stream, allowing more cold air to seep out of the Arctic and into Europe and the eastern U.S.
The Arctic Oscillation has been negative the past two winters, which causes well defined regions of relative warm and cold. There is nothing new going on here.
As the authors of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s recent “Arctic Report Card” put it, “There is evidence that the effect of higher air temperatures in the lower Arctic atmosphere in fall is contributing to changes in the atmospheric circulation in both the Arctic and northern mid-latitudes. Winter 2009-2010 showed a new connectivity between mid-latitude extreme cold and snowy weather events and changes in the wind patterns of the Arctic; the so-called Warm Arctic–Cold Continents pattern.”
In other words, they had to make up some technical sounding jargon to hide the fact that the climate models were wrong.

hahahaha, yep, they’ve gone full tilt stupid!
This is my favorite line…..As the Arctic air warms, it raises the altitude of discrete areas of high pressure, which can then alter wind patterns. This, in turn, can weaken the jet stream, allowing more cold air to seep out of the Arctic…..
So, as the Arctic warms, the cold air(generated by the warmth), seeps(lol) out and significantly cools much of the northern hemisphere. Thus, being one more sign of global warming.
I’ve often thought a cold northern hemisphere was a sign of global warming, now its been confirmed.
Someone needs to compile a list of climate forecasts from Time Magazine over time so that everyone can see the inconsistencies.
Yea that was Stupid this seems to be a trend among CAGW proponents,
here’s a YouTube comment I received today.
I think it’s wrote in some kind of Swahili as I’m unfamiliar with the syntax, maybe it’s hieroglyphics of some sort I’m unsure, I’ve dispatched an expert team translators to decipher this unusual text but so far they are at a loss.
“@TheTempestSpark So… How is historical hard data of CO2 levels in the middle of the Pacific a lie?. First law of termodynamics applied: If CO2 levels are rising it means O2xygen levels are falling! (there are definitely other factors & uncertainties {sun ?}) but,… Deforestation: How is less photosynthesis (less trees) and more combustion emissions + more population such a difficult equation? Its totally logical!… Besides I am living the higher temos & lower temps, the historical rains”
Good luck It appears to be either San Skrit or Gobbeldygook! It does appear your commenter is a promoter of Genocide or Eugenics.
I want to live in “higher temos”, too! But he can keep the lower temps. I remember a historical rain. I was living in El Paso (del Norte), about 1975. It rained and I was walking down the road and cut my bare foot on some glass. Other than that, historical rains don’t bother me much either.
Don’t you know they are never wrong? They simply just didn’t have enough data! Haha. And when they contradict themselves, it’s just they are evolving their conclusions to include new data.
Extreme weather. It’s all because the warm is making it colder and the warm(cold) is causing the records.
http://mapcenter.hamweather.com/records/7day/us.html
Exactly! Heh, new wordspeak word…….warmcold.
We have to be more inventive, seeing as how new meteorological conditions are evolving every day…
How about lukecold for this variant?
Dang, my wife gets “TIME rag” every week, least she knows not to bring this subject up!! specially when I tell her “we’ve already used half a tank of fuel oil already” versus last year, she says “Geez I don’t understand why” anyway Steve, did you happen to catch my question about Heating/Cooling degree day trends from the 50’s by Rob’t Balling Jr.
These idiots should never get any “air play” by anyone let alone MSM. Since when do the “lunatics” in the “asylum” get to try and explain what is “natural occurances causing unnatural events” unless the eco religious whackos are getting desperate and are basically at the end of their ropes to try and prolong the AGW theory which is the basis for their “One World Government” SCAM!
I love the sleight of hand where they claim that we get all of this cold because the Arctic air is warming. But, how, how, where, where does the cold air that we get form? In the Arctic. And it’s not just cold that we are getting, it’s very cold. It has to form somewhere. In the Arctic, maybe?
Chill air down and it gets more dense. The Earth is rotating so the dense air travels outwards towards the equator, Duh!
It is so cruel for these scammers to prey on little kids and ignorant adults and fill them full of such junk science.
HAHAHA, yeah, and if they knew anything about the artic or even visited there this time the year they would know it receives no sun this time of the year. 24 hrs darkness there right now because of that little thing called the earths tilt that we get our seasons from.
So when they say this” The loss of Arctic sea ice helps accelerate the warming of the atmosphere in the far north, thanks to what’s known as the albedo effect. White ice reflects sunlight into space, cooling the air, but when ice melts and is replaced with dark ocean water, the effect is reversed and more of the sun’s heat is absorbed. ” I guess they can stich that albedo effect right where the sun dont shine! HAHAHA!
If it gets hot enough the entire world will be covered with snow.
I wouldn’t use Time Magazine to wipe my rear end with!
I don’t remember this being anywhere in Al Gore’s movie…..
May you all live long enough to learn the error of your ways. Photo evidence of many glaciated North American mountains clearly show that the glaciers have been melting at an increasing rate during the past 100 years. Claims that it was just as hot in the Middle Ages overlooks a couple points. One, there were billions fewer people then there are today. Two, the industries of the past two centuries have put, and continue to do so, millions of tons of pollutants [once called ‘smog’ ] into our atmosphere. Those pollutants are the end results of our unchecked mania for more and more products were don’t really need. Overall, the problem this planet has is that it is afflicted with a ‘disease’ called the human race.
Yea, right.

“A survey of the animals’ numbers in Canada’s eastern Arctic has revealed that they are thriving, not declining, because of mankind’s interference in the environment.
In the Davis Strait area, a 140,000-square kilometer region, the polar bear population has grown from 850 in the mid-1980s to 2,100 today.
“There aren’t just a few more bears. There are a hell of a lot more bears,” said Mitch Taylor, a polar bear biologist who has spent 20 years studying the animals.
His findings back the claims of Inuit hunters who have long claimed that they were seeing more bears.
“Scientific knowledge has demonstrated that Inuit knowledge was right,” said Mr Taylor.”

Polar Bear Blog – October 20, 2009 – Bad Year for a Climate Change Documentary
“…….When this bear was first spotted in August (you could still see ice of the coast of Churchill by August 18th…), I’m told you could barely distinguish his legs, he was so massive and so engulfed in fat. In fact, there are quite a few stories of enormous bears this year. One dog dragged home a skull (still with some meat on it…) that once it was boiled down, measured 16″ from scalp to nose, forehead probably a foot wide. First day and I’ve heard a few stories of big bears, might be time to put the ‘bears used to be bigger’ in the old days storyline to rest – it held up in the nineties but maybe less so now… ”
Polar Bear Blog – October 5, 2009 – Good Ol’ Days Are Here Again… Sort of
“Should be interesting to see how this season shapes up with the impressive ice conditions on Hudson Bay. Barring an unseasonably warm October (it is marginally above normal but not enough to make a big difference…), 2009 should go down on record as one of the longer ice seasons since 1971, the beginning of Environment Canada’s modern weather records, definitely the longest ice season since 1992 – the year in which the ice season was extended due to the global cooling caused by the eruption of Mount pinatubo.”

This seems to run counter to what “Time” would like folks to believe, maybe that is why they don’t sell too many magazines any more.
Big Jake: You are certainly free to draw your own conclusions from this irrefutable bit of history. Having done much boating in S. E. AK., I have great respect for what these sailors of the past accomplished. Keep in mind that Geo. Vancouver’s ships were wind powered; therefore, he wasn’t spewing out any diesel smoke to start this massive retreat of these glaciers. “The explorer Captain George Vancouver found Icy Strait, at the south end of Glacier Bay, choked with ice in 1794. Glacier Bay itself was almost entirely iced over. In 1879 naturalist John Muir found that the ice had retreated almost all the way up the bay. By 1916 the Grand Pacific Glacier was at the head of Tarr Inlet about 100 km 65 miles from Glacier Bay’s mouth. This is the fastest documented glacier retreat ever. Scientists are hoping to learn how glacial activity relates to climate changes and global warming from these retreating giants.” Where was Al Gore & “Time” when the earth needed them the most?
Wow has everyone forgotten the Earth tilts on its axis AWAY from the sun? That’s why it gets cold in the winter and there’s less light in the Arctic.
“Several ships and more than 1,000 crew got stuck in arctic ice off the coast of Russia after the sea froze over!”

“We’ve officially just had our COLDEST December since records began 100 years ago!
The Met Office reckons this December was absolutely freezing, as across the country we shivered through temperatures that averaged -1C”.
Since BBC has pushed this scam called Anthropogenic Global Warming from the very beginning like “Time” has, they just felt obliged to end this story with this bit of unsubstantiated nonsense
“But globally, 2010 was one of the hottest years on record”.
