You know….
They might have been able to pull this off if it had only been a little colder.
“But on either side of these cool blue pools are raging fires of orange, red and maroon: the temperatures in western Greenland, northern Canada and Siberia were between two and ten degrees higher than usual”
Wow.. I’m packing my bathers and suntan lotion for those places.
the key is in the “as I can lay hands on”. Having listened to Monbiot once, I have hardly the impression the scientific literature is his “cup of tea”
You see, Global Warming is like the Evil Capitalism that created it. CO2 STEALS heat from other, more deserving molecules, and then hoards that heat in one place, usually somewhere with no thermometers (to escape detection/taxation).
But fortunately for the world, Jimmie Hansen is on the job day and night, hunting down that evil heat, which is spewing moisture into the air, and causing the rest of the NH to experience a more brutal winter. If we can simply tax the living beejesus out of CO2, Capitalism and Prosperity can be vanquished, leading to climate justice, and therefore Economic Ruin, er, uh Justice for all!
I must say I am truly impressed that he went to the well respected Climate Rapid Response Team!
Steven:
How are those answers coming from the same team? What has it been, a month now?
We should send the Climate Rapid Response Team to research the warmth in skivvies!
Omnologos you are correct in that the key is in the “as I can lay hands on” but that’s because Moonbat is BLIND to science and needs to read in Braille 🙂
seriously…does anybody have any kind of evidence that Monbiot is able to read and understand fully a climate science article on his own? And I am not even going to try asking if he’s ever written any peer-reviewed paper in any scientific field.
She’s not going to like the answer, and nor are you. It may be yes.
Mr Monbiot,
You don’t like that the answer is no. So you attempt to shove you propaganda down everyone’s throat.
Here’s some advice: sit alone in your favorite chair, relax, and say, “I am wrong”.
I would say, sit alone in your favorite chair, relax and don’t be afraid to pull the trigger.
I think the “soft gentle Welsh” ladys words are worth repeating…
To Moonbat: “You liar.”
To Moonbat: “You liar.”
To Moonbat: “You liar.”
To Moonbat: “You liar.”
I love itttt

Just like the NYT, Monbiot must be snow blind http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/12/snow_blind.html
she is already mad. his response is only going to make her more angry.
Don’t you put water in the oven to make ice cubes?
No, no Steven, it’s not that simple. Your oven would be cold enough to make ice cubes only if most of the other ovens were hot. The hotter the others, the colder yours would be.
Mr. Monbiot, if you are so smart, why didn’t you see this recent cold coming ahead of time? You are obviously clueless and shameless to boot!
We should put Monbiot’s claims in a proper scientific context.
If the consensus of AGW climate models had predicted a cold winter, despite the warming trend, then it would have been a strong confirmation of there theory – especially as they predict increased volatility of the climate. The weather forecaster most infused with AGW theory (and probably the best funded) is the UK Met Office – who got it wrong.
On the other hand, Piers Corbyn, an eccentric Englishman from a much smaller forecasting firm gave the forecast that the British winter would most likely be the coldest for 100 years. His weather forecasts are based on natural factors, such as solar radiation. Unlike the Met Office, he archives the forecasts as a cross-check.
Science should be judged by its predictive ability, particularly where there is highly complex data and seemingly chaotic systems. It avoids cherry-picking of the data, or biased analysis of the data to fit the theory.
