I agree there is no DIRECT correlation.But there has been enough evidence of phased changes going on.
I am sure that Leif could change his mind.
Spots are down, but flux is on a much diminished upward trend line so far.

Graphs of solar cycle length vs temperature have something which looks awfully like correlation to me. See Fig 7.
