1898 : Heaviest Flooding In Thirty Years Across Great Britain

Hmmmm, why does this number ’30’ years keep popping up again and again? I’ve seen it before.
Well, without the benefit of a fat federal grant I can say this: when there is finally enough data plotted, including weather events and climate shifts (like all this data Steve is turning up), we will then discover a magic number or range of numbers that will center around thirty. This will be akin to a Rosetta Stone. Such a magic number will not be found in a model (how could it?), instead it will be found in actual observations of course.
