Dumbest Global Warming Study Yet?

Canada may have set a new record for mindless global warming research!

Scientists investigating reports made by the Inuvialuit of the northwest Arctic of a massive storm surge in 1999 have been shocked at the devastating impact on the ecosystem and environment.

The researchers from Queen’s and Carleton Universities studied growth rings from coastal shrubs and lake sediment from the Mackenzie Delta, the location of the widespread 1999 storm surge. The researchers found that the impact of the salt-water storm surges is unprecedented in the thousand year history of the region.

“One of the most ominous threats of global warming today is from rising sea levels, which can cause marine waters to inundate the land,” says the team’s co-leader, Queen’s graduate student Joshua Thienpont. “The threat is especially acute in polar regions, where shrinking sea ice increases the risk of storm surges.”

Sea level at the Mackenzie Delta is falling at a rate of nearly 20 mm per year. It is probably a good idea to reach conclusions after you look at the data – rather than before.

University Brain Washing is accomplishing its intended intent.

lol, in all ball sports, keep your eye on the ball!

My estimation is that was a very well executed play. It won’t work anymore, but very nice.

    • I don’t like it. In kids soccer they teach you to quit playing if someone gets hurt.

Well, this was high-school, its not like this was some coach playing a trick on 7 y/o kids, but I understand how some would think it was dirty. I just admire the creative thinking and the near flawless execution of the play. Those boys had the timing down!

It was not a great play nor did it fool the defenders. Watch it again and you will see the the defender has his man marked and stays marked on the eventual goal scorer. The defender was not fooled at all but rather just did a very poor job defending. Either his coach didn’t teach him to always be “ball side, goal side” while defending or the kid was lazy. I always taught my high school kids to grab jersey and only watch the ball with peripheral vision, and always play the man not the ball in defensive marking, and fight for ball side goal side position .

Sorry for sounding critical. I watched a lot of film as a soccer coach so it’s my nature to always evaluate things critically.

I could find only three tide gauges there so I made a map. I’ll see if it gets through moderation at Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/18/idUS362807029720110518

Oh baloney! Not more than a very tiny fraction of long running single site tide gauge records shows any trend change in the modern era whatsoever. I’m not kidding. Let’s find the location of this study to see, shall we?

Mind you I have no idea what I’ll find but I’ll make a prediction: NO TREND CHANGE. Here we go folks…The Mackenzie River is the largest river in Canada. Check. No tide gauge there. Let’s find it’s longitude and latitude…wait a second, it doesn’t open into the ocean at all but into a big lake called Great Slave Lake, so what does this have to do with sea level? Oh, that’s it’s source, not its drain. Where does it drain? It flows North to the Beaufort sea. http://www.aquatic.uoguelph.ca/rivers/macmap.htm. Longitude 70° N Latitude -133° W. Check. There are three tide gauges in the Beaufort sea. Let’s have a look! NO SEA LEVEL RISE THERE. Gee, my prediction came true.

It could qualify as one of the dumbest ever, but its got a lot of competition. You’d think these morons would at least pick an area that actually has sea-level rise before they attempt their psuedo-science, but they appear to be incapable to even the simplest of thoughts.
