“Sea level is rising more and faster”

COPENHAGEN – Sea levels are rising more and faster than previously thought. According to a report by the Arctic Council is expected Tuesday, but where a newspaper in Copenhagen on Monday to post.

Until the year 2100 should be considered an increase from 0.9 to 1.6 meters, mainly because of the accelerating melting polar ice. Between 2003 and 2008 the sea level rose about 3 millimeters a year because of melting polar ice contributed to 40 percent, says the Arctic Council to protect the environment in the Arctic. The international climate panel IPCC 2007 foresaw a sea level rise of 18 to 59 inches.

Commissioner Connie Hedegaard (Climate) hopes that a new impetus to the stagnant climate negotiations: “The figures show that in the wrong direction”.

Sea level “rise” is definitely not accelerating. Jason 1 shows sea level below 2006 levels.

  1. Latitude says:

Wait, are they saying that the Arctic Council says the Arctic ice is melting…
…and that’s causing sea level rise?

  2. Charles Higley says:

Who are the ignorant clowns on the Arctic Council?
Why do they not know that floating ice does not change water level when it melts?

So, what they say to totally stupid, regardless the fact that the Arctic ice is NOT melting any more than normal seasonal changes and actually increasing in thickness to be thicker than in the 1970s.

So, their basic 4th grade scientific knowledge is lacking and they know nothing about current Arctic conditions. Now that’s a council who really does their job!
