Leading Climatologist Prostitutes Himself To The BBC

Some areas in the tropics face famine because of failing food production, an international research group says.

The Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) predicts large parts of South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa will be worst affected.

Its report points out that hundreds of millions of people in these regions are already experiencing a food crisis.

“We are starting to see much more clearly where the effects of climate change on agriculture could intensify hunger and poverty,” said Patti Kristjanson, an agricultural economist with the CCAFS initiative that produced the report.

A leading climatologist told BBC News that agriculturalists had been slow to use global climate models to pinpoint regions most affected by rising temperatures.

Climate models show that the tropics should be least affected by global warming, and satellite data shows almost no change in tropical temperatures over the last 30 years.

One would expect that a “leading climatologist” would already know this

using GLOBAL models to pinpoint REGIONS is DISHONEST given the impossibility to produce meaningful regional models

  2. Al Gored says:

Coincidentally, I was just reading that just before popping over here.

Laughing. Yes, a “leading climatologist” who “responded to the report by saying he thought that CGIAR, the parent body to the CCAFS, had been slow to move into the field of climate change as a key area of research. But he added that this step was very welcome.”

Welcome to the gravy train, while it lasts.

And how about that map? I wonder why they didn’t show the whole world? Ran out of doomsday adjustments I guess.

    O/T, but I had to tell the anti-AGW God-dard. A frozen poly bear… I can’t… Just read the story.

I take offence sir! I would never lower myself to hire a climatologist!

  5. larry Oregon says:

Wait just a dang gone minute. In high school ’68-72′ I was taught that in a warm climate you could grow all the food you wanted to. It was a cooling climate you could not grow as much food, such as the dark ages cool period or the little ice age. Even the 1880-1910 cool period. Oh that’s right all science before 1988 has now been declared null and void.

  6. Peter Fitzsimmons says:

Funny that the fact that plants need CO2 to grow just means there is not enough

  7. Charles Higley says:

“agriculturalists had been slow to use global climate models ”

How ingenuous of them not to take the fantasy route to determine what to do in agriculture!

It’s a virtual reality attitude towards the real world that dominates “climate science” (more like “climate-junk science”). Climate models, like airplane models, only fit together or work as well as the model maker has the skill to do. Plastic airplane models are not expected to fly, and neither are climate models—both are lacking really important parts, such as an engine controls or the relevant factors and the resolution.
