China plans to grow CO2 emissions by 25% over the next four years, and the Guardian calls it a “low-carbon plan.”
China to cap energy use in national low-carbon plan
Reuters reported that officials have settled on a total energy cap of 4.1bn tonnes of coal equivalent (TCE) by 2015 – a level more than 25% higher than last year.
China has learned that many western journalists are uneducated fools, incapable of thinking for themselves – and will believe whatever they are told.
It’s like saying that an increase of 25% in deaths on the road is something to celebrate, regardless of whether or not the increase might have been a lot more without a “lower-death plan”
Their logic is beyond ludicrous.
This is the same mental Moibus Strip used by Obama to explain his economic plans.
His policies are on track to add $2T in annual deficits, but if he “cuts spending” by $200Bn/year (AKA Draconian slashing of budgets), he claims $2Tn “savings” over 10 years.
And the lap-dog press slobbers “Whatever you say, Dear Leader!”
I suppose their “Low Carbon” plan is similar to their past Five Year plans and will probably be as successful!
The ‘greens’ are really watermelons so they love China, no matter what is happening in the real world.
My answer is yes.
Four years?
Okay, prediction time: They’ll exceed their +25% “cap” by 100% (ergo actual Carbon dioxide emissions will be 50% higher than to-day) , and the complicit press “corpse” will still pretend that China has cut emissions, and they’ll further ask why the United States hasn’t done the same.
Even if China doubled or tripled their emissions the press would want to know why the US was not doing their part to combat a non problem like the Chinese!
I say we should grow CO2 emissions to +75% over the next four years, think of how that would look to the Guardian that calls China’s plan of +25 % CO2 growth a “low-carbon plan.” It’s a win/win.
Come on Steve, everyone knows a cut in rate of spending is a cut in government, so why shouldn’t it apply in this case? 🙂
In a twisted way this works for the greenies …
China does the ‘dirty’ work as we farm out our dirty work to them.
Greenies want us to pas cap/trade and carbon nonsene feel good legislation. The liberal greenies get to assuage their guilt.
Greenies would import electricity and other things from countries doing the dirty work. The liberal greenies get to assuage their guilt.
China, Mexicans, blacks, butlers, limo drivers, what’s the difference to a liberal greenie?
None, it’s someone else doing their dirty work.
As someone has already stated the PRC will very likely exceed their CO2 emissions goals, and you won’t hear a peep from libz/greens, Pretty much every major nation that was a party to Kyoto exceeded their emissions goals, but It’s the thought that counts.
By now my esteem of mainstream journalism has reached the point where I assign more critical thinking to members of the Chinese people’s congress than to those hacks.
I ran the numbers from CDIAC (2007-2009) with a simple linear fit for 2 years (2010-2011) and guess what?

Ton for ton is simply transferred to Asia.
Good news is that the US is on target to reach 1990’s emission levels (/sarc).

In answer to your title, yes. Communism good – regardless of their actions (it is the intentions after all, and everyone knows that communism ueber alles, ueber alles an der Welt).
