Christie and Bloomberg have made fools out of themselves by listening to alarmists.
Maybe not. FSU has a very different forecast for hurricane force winds

They will have to downgrade this very soon or it’s going to become an obvious phoney, not just to those who know how to read wind gages. I knew they would hold CAT 1 till landfall, as predicted earlier, but holding it longer is making this more a farce than force by the moment.
So Hansen could be proven right then WWTDD (what would TONY DUNCeAN do)
LOL
Yesterday the LSM was saying 10 million people would be affected today it’s up to 65 million
I noticed that too. If you count all of us who are thoroughly annoyed by the continuing idiocy (I assume LSM means lamestream media), the number can only go up rapidly.
I think they can include the entire TV audience………..
It’s not the winds that the mayor is afraid of. Its the potential for storm surge and flooding in low-laying areas. The scope of this storm suggests it could bring a lot of water on shore even if it is only a tropical storm when it makes landfall. Maybe it won’t, but he’d be a fool to rule out the possibility.
If you are correct I just moved all my Sh… uh stuff for 33 mph winds! I am noticing the lack of reporters be blown around on television. This is a very interesting devlopment.
Remember their job is to sell the news first, report it second.
THANK YOU for being brave enough to put the truth out there!

In the plains states 45 mph winds don’t even make the news on a sunny day much less during a thunderstorm. 33 mph is a breezy day. So, why is the nanny state trying to make this storm out for something much larger than it really is? Why create a crisis where none exists? What are they up to that they don’t want us to be watching? Is this a dry run to find out how easily the sheeple can be herded?
Why is Mayor Bloomberg really banning first responders from the 911 ceremonies? Are they (our government) going to stage another terror attack in the immediate future? Think people, why is the media and now our national weather service so complicit in manufacturing “news” crisis?
…..news just had a reporter on the beach……pointing at a house with a couple of small pieces of siding missing
Guess I’t the only one who actually reads Jeff Masters on this pathetic anti-science Republican knuckle-dragging blog.
he is just joking you fools.
Winds in New York City will likely gust to hurricane force.
Steve,
If you are doing media today, we’d like to talk to you on our radio show about the hurricane. Please email me at [email protected] if you’re interested. Thank you.

What are you doing looking at the GFS/WRF model when the Hurricane is on our doorstep (NJ/NY)? The weather is already here; check the “official” observation sites. You should basically be progging the storm as it rides up the coast (Now Casting). I think both Governors are doing a great job with the information that they have.
The only casualty (thus far) in Noo Yuk is a guy who fell off a ladder (no doubt panicked by the Mayor’s pronouncements into protecting his property)
Go wild folk. We in the antipodes have the same problem with our scaremongers . 30 And 40 milers now called gales and the sheeples reply in kind . You can’t get a good grant from government unless you can scare the gullible .
The Federal Government is there to protect the fooled and the gullible. Roll on the carbon trading tax Obama must be laughing all the way to the bank.
The governor has announced that BHO has given NJ a disaster condition. This allows more $$$ to the state, to remind voters next year who to vote for.
For all you cris Cristy fans Did you see his press comfrence telling all us little people to get home now. He is a dictator not a tea party politican.
The real problem with hyping a weather event is that next time a realy dangerous storm arives no one will take notice. The boy who cried wolf is now a climate scientist. His children are now reporters.
Wind is only one aspect. We had sustained winds of 55 mph in Cape May all night last night with gusts hitting 105. Weather underground’s site was showing only 25 with peak gusts of 47. The flooding is horrible. Lots of damage to property here and in Philadelphia. The government acted appropriately. Those blaming AGW for this are just crazy loons.
The reporters are all suffering from “Dan Rather Syndrome (DRS). In ’61 Rather was a field reporter for a local Houston station. He reported live standing out in hurricane Carla (a serious cat 4 storm). The network picked up his spots and that led to a national-level job. He then reported from Viet Nam and eventually got the National anchor spot.
Whenever reporters see a hurricane coming up they figure its their big chance and they get out there with raincoats, leaning into the wind. When Rita turned off to the East, lots of Houston area reporters were left high and dry. One reported from a rowboat while people walked by in the background in ankle deep water. Another reporter was so desperate to show the devastating winds that he sent shots of a paper cup blowing around a parking lot.
With Irene, I saw some schmuk getting covered with raw sewage all for his “Big Chance” and grinnin’ like a possum eatin’…well, you know. They are not above making up some news to get attention. Rather really was putting his life in danger by staying on the coast, but that was a different America, it seems.
