Hansen told us last NH winter that the record snow was due to a missing ice cube in the Hudson Bay. No doubt this also explains the record snow currently in the Southern Hemisphere.
The missing ice cube is a much more plausible explanation than low solar activity. How could the Sun affect weather on Earth?

With such an unsual solar min, we should leave our SUVs idling in the driveway in order to prevent severe winters or maybe even an ice age.
