“THE hottest summer in Oklahoma history.” That’s the storyline for 2011, although it’s a bit early to draw such a conclusion. It was certainly the hottest July in recorded history. What naturally follows from the “hottest summer” conclusion is that anthropogenic global warming is “settled science.”
In 1954, average July maximum temperatures were three degrees higher (106F) than last month (103F) in Hennesey. A number of years in the 1930s and 1950s had temperatures over 100 degrees in both July and August, and that does not appear likely to happen in 2011, with cooler weather in the forecast.
I see similar patterns in other Oklahoma locations.
