It Is Worse Than We Thought : Animals Fleeing The Heat

I noticed that the deer and ants are about 10 feet higher up the mountain than they used to be.

WASHINGTON — Animals across the world are fleeing global warming by heading north much faster than they were less than a decade ago, a new study says.

About 2,000 species examined are moving away from the equator at an average rate of more than 15 feet per day, about a mile per year, according to new research published Thursday in the journal Science, which analyzed previous studies. Species are also moving up mountains to escape the heat, but more slowly, averaging about 4 feet a year.

The species — mostly from the Northern Hemisphere and including plants — moved in fits and starts, but over several decades it averages to about 8 inches an hour away from the equator.

“The speed is an important issue,” said study author Chris Thomas of the University of York. “It is faster than we thought.” AP

    It’s a wildlife tsunami!

Obviously they did not contemplate their navel long enough. If the had they would have seen the flora and fauns were just attempting to reestablish prior habitats they were evicted from due to colder temperatures. Rather than fleeing the heat they are reestablishing lost territory. They forget to say that as well as advancing they are not leaving most of the already established area which means overall they are expanding territory! If it is faster than they thought they are limited in their understanding of their subject matter!

I woke up this morning… and my shoes were 8 inches farther north than went I put them in the closet last night! This is getting serious…

So how long exactly before Coconut Palms and Orange Groves start traveling North?

When will they be able to grow them say, in New York or Connecticut?

That of course would be a good thing for humanity in general, but not to the AGW death cult.

#1 Warming has not been occurring for the las Decade and a half (even according to the warmists) so the good doctor must have been bored lately.

#2 Have the people been moving north? People actually have the ability to move north since they are not restricted by non-contiguous habitat like animals.

#3 Hotter regions like the tropics have way more types of animals than temperate regions. How is it that animals hate warmth all of a sudden. Are warmists projecting their sentiments onto animals?

  6. Latitude says:

it was the cold limiting their range…..
….as their habitat improves, they expand their range

Theses asswipes try to make it sound like there are none left behind……….

I would love to know how they got the data. I’ll bet most it is, well, assumed.

There was a biologist in Texas a couple of years ago who said that all North American mammals were either decreasing or increasing in the last 10 years due to global warming.

Any first year bio student knows that most animal populations fluctuate regularly over the years, mainly due to predator/prey interactions. So, what this brilliant idiot was telling us is that she is willing to repackage established biological norms and patterns and brand them as products of global warming, which, by the way, is not happening anyhow.

There was another report of a heat-loving fungus in the Northwest moving SOUTH due to global warming. Did they ever even read what claptrap they were writing?

And then there’s the Swiss studies that showed that during the 80s and 90s warming plant species moved up the mountain sides but also stayed where they were so that they had a wider range. The assumption by the warmists is that the plants higher up get forced out, but that is not what happens. The upshot is that species diversity increased and threats of extinction were decreased!
