NSIDC Says That Old Ice Is Increasing – Despite Homer Moment

New ice age measurements show decline in oldest, thickest ice
Researchers look at ice age as a way to estimate ice thickness. Ice thickness matters to the overall stability of the ice cover, because older ice grows thicker over multiple seasons, while newly formed ice tends to be thin and vulnerable to melt. While the amount of older sea ice has increased somewhat since September 2007, an updated analysis of satellite-derived sea ice age recently published by James Maslanik and co-authors show the oldest ice (ice older than five years), has continued to decline.

Obviously the increasing MYI since 2007, won’t be five years old until after 2012.

I don’t of any other way to express this to those pinheads. They’ve no context nor perspective. Of course most of the multi-year ice is less than 5 y/o!!!! Morons! Its not like 2007 was so long ago that they’ve forgotten…… is it? Are they really that daft?

  2. I’ll just guess right now that next year, around this same time, 5-year-old multi-year ice will be some kind of cherry-picked, manufactured denialist talking point. Everyone will know that the real metric is of 6- and 7-year-old ice, which will clearly be declining yet again.

‘A slow sort of country!’ said the Queen. ‘Now, HERE, you see,
it takes all the running YOU can do, to keep in the same place.
If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as
    fast as that!’

“How can we express this as something negative so that the warmists won’t cut our funding?”

Don’t you fellas think that there’s a difference between the word “older”, which is generic for 3+, and the phrase “the OLDEST ice (ice older than five years),”

The first word “older” is a general category; the second phrase “oldest”- 5+, is a subcategory of +”old”.

The above has been brought to you by courtesy of the “How to parse a sentence committee.

    • This a tricky concept. Four year old ice in 2011 will be five year old ice in 2012

    • Do you hear that? That is the distinctive “whoosh” of a massive body of concepts flying right over the head of a paid shill for the alarmism industry.

    • DirkH says:

You’re from the ice-naming committee? Does it pay well?

    • suyts says:

That was a plusgood comment. Are you sure you have the right committee? So, if oldest is 5+, what would 7+ be? Plusoldest?

Ill, the whole point is, the pinheads are lamenting the fact that our +5 y/o ice is diminishing. After the event of 2007, don’t you think this was anticipated, even by the simplest of minds? The overwhelming majority of the ice should be less than 5 years old!

Bottom line, you’re losing and your getting more desperate with every year.
