Osama Seals Killed By The Taliban

Obama already has plans to turn Afghanistan over to the Taliban. He should have brought everyone home, rather than pretending that we aren’t giving up. Every day he increases his reputation as the most incompetent buffoon to ever grace high office in Washington.

    So stupid. If we are in it to win, get in it to win. If we aren’t, just get everyone the hell out of there. Why expend blood and treasure for something we aren’t trying to win anyway?

      It’s only an incredible loss for their families sadly, in the greater scheme of things it’s going to make no difference to how you live your life, same with USSR special forces being killed over there in the 1980’s or British troops in the last century.

      Completely pointless and a total waste.

        Comparing wars of conquest and imperialism to the current war of liberation and anti-terrorism?

        Is this something you learned in school? Find something America is doing today and compare it (badly) to some historical evil?

        And for what purpose? Seriously, what is your purpose here? Taking a crap on your country?

    Typically the attack went in early to catch people sleeping except someone in the US mission planning forgot that during this month people were up bright and breezy to eat food before sunrise. That coupled with the fact that, unlike with Bin Laden where they were mainly unarmed and got gunned down, they were armed here. So a result something like the Iran rescue 1979 was obtained.

    US Navy Seal Team 6 have another stike out. Very poor record, that’s 3 high profile disasters in a row now.

    Oh Lord, this is horrific.

    CNN has this information …

    “Twenty-five U.S. special forces killed early Saturday in Afghanistan were on a mission to rescue another team of military personnel pinned down by insurgents, a U.S. military official told CNN.

    The helicopter that went down in eastern Afghanistan carried 30 U.S. military members, including 22 Navy SEALs and three other special forces. They were part of a “quick reaction force” sent in to pick up others engaged in a fierce firefight, the official said.

    In the single deadliest incident since the start of the decade-long Afghan war, the Army Chinook carrying a team of U.S. special forces and U.S. and Afghan soldiers went down in Wardak province.

    Insurgents are believed to have shot down the helicopter, a military official said.

    The majority of the Navy SEALs who died belonged to the same covert unit that conducted the raid that killed Osama bin Laden in May, though they were not the same men, the official said.

    “It’s a big loss” for the SEALs, one of the officials said. “The numbers are high.””

    It was approximately 24 operators on the Bin Laden raid in Pakistan.

    (CBS/AP) KABUL, Afghanistan – Insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, killing 30 Americans, most of them belonging to the same elite unit as the Navy SEALs who killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, U.S. officials said Saturday. It was the deadliest single loss for American forces in the decade-old war against the Taliban.

    CBS News correspondent David Martin reports that the dead include members of the Air Force and Army, but most of them were Navy SEALs from Team 6. In addition to the 22 SEALs killed, there were three other special operators, plus 5 crewmen. The group on the downed Chinook were a back-up force called in by another team which had run into trouble when it hit the target of a special raid. The lead team called for help and the Chinook was coming in when it was shot down.

    The downing, in which seven Afghan commandos were also killed, was a stinging blow to the lauded, tight-knit SEAL Team 6 months after its crowning achievement. It was also a heavy setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down thousands of combat troops fighting what has become an increasingly costly and unpopular war.”

    Just terrible.
