Raging Storms and Rising Seas Swelling the Ranks of Climate Refugees
One of the defining characteristics of our time is the swelling flow of environmental refugees, including those displaced as a warmer climate brings more-destructive storms and rising seas. The prospect for this century is a rise in sea level of up to 6 feet. Even a 3-foot rise would inundate parts of many low-lying cities, major river deltas, and island countries. Among the early refugees will be millions of rice-farming families from Asia’s river deltas, those who will watch their fields sink below the rising sea.
The flow of rising-sea refugees will come primarily from coastal cities. Among those most immediately affected are London, New York, Washington, Miami, Shanghai, Kolkata (Calcutta), Cairo, and Tokyo.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Australian Bureau of Meteorology getting deparate:
“Special Climate Statement 34.
An unseasonable warm spell affecting Victoria in early August 2011.”
http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/current/statements/scs34.pdf
Meanwhile .. record cold in the rest of Australia.
One day of warm weather in one city gets a “special climate statement” ?
Yeah, the market for coastal properties is just plummeting. Guess they will just have to bulldoze all those homes in South Beach.
Lester Brown’s article was up at Grist yesterday and I challenged several of his claims but have heard no reply from Mr. Brown. I reminded him that Katrina was only a CAT 3 hurricane when it struck Louisiana and that he had not showmn that Katrina/CAT3 was not a result of global warming/climate change and if he thought Katrina was caused by AGW/climate change, he needed to provide the data/study from the scientists showing attribution. I also got into 130 years of SLR and recent reduction of SLR but it seems to be a lost cause with advocates pretending to be journalists.

S/B “I reminded him that Katrina was only a CAT 3 hurricane when it struck Louisiana and that Katrina/CAT3 was not a result of global warming/climate change ….”

When the 1st confirmed person displaced by rising sea level is identified AlGore can put him up at one of Algore’s Palacial estates, and then take the guy on a world tour on AlGore’s G5 to promote global warming awareness.
If the dissemination of drivel would cause a sea level rise we might see two feet of it based on treehugger output alone.
lmao!!! Does anyone notice the grammar and tense use?
“One of the defining characteristics of our time is….”
“Even a 3-foot rise would ……”
“Among the early refugees will be…”
The moronic writer can’t distinguish reality. The person is confused about present reality and possible future events……. I’d suggest much therapy, meds and confinement to ensure this person isn’t a danger to himself and others.
“One of the defining characteristics of our time is….”
I caught that too. Our time is defined by something’s existence which nobody is even aware of? (because it doesn’t actually exist) Eras are defined by iconic images of things that pre-occupy the public and impact the lives of many across a broad spectrum of society. Our era will be defined by the ludicrous claims of impending climate catastrophies which never came to be.
The warmists need their cause to be urgent so they’re constantly suggesting the kookie alarmist scenarios that they project to possibly occur late in the 21st century are happening now in the present.
Robert Redford is doing his part to provide sanctuary to refugees looking for shelter on higher ground…

What a great article!
I didn’t realize that there were huge numbers of “Climate Refuges” around the world. Although they started with the Katrina evacuee’s maybe they should go further back and include King Canute. You know the guy who ordered the tide to stop. I mean who would have thought that building a home 10 feet below sea level on the ocean was risky. I mean, just because you have to look up to see the passing ships and barges is no reason to suspect that anything could go wrong.
Now you’re a victim of “Climate Change” just like the Japanese nuclear plant was because, since it was built, sea level rose an inch or two and if it hadn’t the tsunami that crested the tsunami wall by 16 feet would have only crested it by 15′ 10″.
“The prospect for this century is a rise in sea level of up to 6 feet.” Now that’s completely contradicted by the vast majority of the studies and 100% of the data but, hey, if it makes people scared it’s worth it. They used the words “up to”. Hey the Swedish Bikini team could parachute into my hot tub this afternoon but I’m not betting on it.
Next they bring up the possibility of both Greenland and the West Arctic ice sheet melting even though at its current rate of melt Greenland will take 3,000 years and the West Antarctic much, much longer. They post this crap because allot of people believe it. Apparently we know where all those readers of the “Weekly World News” ended up.
