Interesting note here. while in Eureka (80th Parallel), on or near Dec 21st, around mid day, we headed out onto the Fjord, shut off the lights and waited for our eyes to adjust and sure enough, you could discern a faint glow to the south
Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun.
You show me a bit of noonday Sun in England at the moment, and I will gladly go out in it. I might even risk firing up the BBQ too.
Dear Galvanize,
It ain’t no kinda rocket surgery, get your butt out there!

Warmest regards. XD
we stayed in the Bombardier…just in case Mr. Polar Bear came by…we didn’t want to be his next meal….a constant reminder when you live up there and head outside daily to release weather balloons….
We have reached a tipping point and can definitely predict rapid and potentially dangerous Northern Hemispheric cooling over the next five months.
What are the units of the 0 to 45 contours? I looked up the article and it didn’t state the units either. Rather sloppy of NASA! I figure they must be MegaJoules.
Mr Sun?
Errrr his name is Sol, commonly known as Old Sol. He always prefers warmer climes due to his artheritis. Has also been accused of intefering with our climate but the brightest, best and most honest scientists in the world testify that he has nothing to do with the climate.
Unless we are experiencing cool weather, then the sun contributes.
I think we should write a scientific paper on why the sun hates cold weather! The data is undeniable.
The correlation between the location of the Sun and temperature is almost perfect. 97% of scientists believe that the Sun moves as a response to cold weather – which is of course driven by CO2.
Only 97%? Other 3% must be sun deniers. 😉
